South American cuisine in general is freaking fantastic.

That actor Ben Kingsley is in fact half Indian and that his birth name was Krishna Pandit Bhanji.

Sorta takes the gas out of any 'minstrel show blackface' complaints about his portrayal of Ghandi.

What are you talking about? You're not black if you're even 1/64th white.

There's a player for the Georgia State football team whose jersey labels him "C. King".

I don't give a damn about college ball but fuck yeah, that guy.

Hello gained widespread usage though the increased use of the telephone. Alexander Graham Bell had originally suggested the telephone greeting ahoy. But the greeting that stuck was hello, which may have been suggested by Thomas Edison.

Dammit, Edison, you knucklehead!

In a related factoid: Strawberry Crush Soda + Half and Half = The Greatest Thing Ever.
Oh, I drink coca-cola and milk all the time too. And, I've had other sodas + milk too, but, I've never had soda + half and half. I'll have to give that a try.

The Amiga, ST, Speccy and C64 together had more than twice as many games as every major console since the NES combined. Newgrounds has even more.

to be fair, it takes a lot less dev time to crap out a game for one of those systems than anything with 3d graphics. That goes double for newgrounds

Correct. Commodore, Atari and Sinclair didn't charge license fees for their platform, and they actually encouraged users to program the machines. The Speccy, C64, ST and Amiga are credited with creating a generation of video game developers, but the companies never got rich directly from successful games.

Right, if you're going to count every single Newgrounds/cellphone game, then you'd better be counting every single game in those Action 52 and Chinese pirate carts.

Not exactly news, but it's certainly interesting seeing just how many people it takes to replace one Mel Blanc:

    * Jeff Bergman as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck
    * Joe Alaskey as Sylvester, Tweety and Pepe Le Pew
    * June Foray as Granny and Witch Hazel
    * Billy West as Elmer Fudd
    * Maurice LaMarche as Yosemite Sam
    * Bob Bergen as Porky Pig and Speedy Gonzales
    * Jeff Bennett as Foghorn Leghorn
    * Eric Bauza as Marvin the Martian
    * Jim Cummings as Tasmanian Devil and Gossamer
    * Stan Freberg as Pete Puma
    * Rob Paulsen as Mac Gopher
    * Jess Harnell as Tosh Gopher
    * Kath Soucie as Lola Bunny
    * Frank Welker as Road Runner
    * J. Haley as Michigan J. Frog

(NOTE: Foray, of course, is not actually replacing Blanc; neither is Soucie.  And while West is taking over a former Blanc role, Blanc wasn't the original Fudd either.  But -- and correct me if I'm wrong -- that still leaves a dozen people taking on one guy's roles.  And all of THEM are pretty fucking talented in their OWN right.)

I compared that list to the casting of Space Jam.  Things I noticed:

*Billy West did Bugs Bunny as well as Elmer Fudd
*Maurice LaMarche did Pepe Le Pew but NOT Yosemite Sam

Interesting how they can shift around and replace the actors for parts they've already done.
