Quote
Bob Ross developed his speed-painting technique while working in the military. He needed to be able to do a lot of paintings quickly so that in his freetime he could build up an inventory for the local art-fairs where he would sell his work.

Also, he would have been 70 today.

Sometimes I'll go on /tg/ and learn about weird bits of history.

Quote from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_Plan_Red
Joint Army and Navy Basic War Plan Red, also known as the Atlantic Strategic War Plan[citation needed], was a hypothetical war plan by the United States to fight Great Britain (the "Red" forces)."[1] Although a war plan (theoretical), it nevertheless discussed the potential for fighting a hypothetical war with Britain and its Empire and what steps would become necessary to defend the Atlantic coast. It also discussed fighting a two-front war with both Japan and the British Empire simultaneously (as envisioned in War Plan Red-Orange).

Wonder if France would have been any help this time.

If that's how you apologize for Nickelback, you guys are almost on the road to redemption.

That sushi beats out a lot of drugs for how fast it bankrupts you after developing a habit.

It's like chewing gum to get over smoking. Not that I'd know anything about that.

Or smoking to control your appetite!

Not that Classic would know anything about that.

Apparently there are dudes who literally could not give less of a fuck about what their apples taste like? I mean over on Talking Time there's been a minor kerfuffle over someone daring to say that Red Delicious tastes pretty bad!

If I were to get into a minor kerfluffle with someone for saying Red Delicious apples are "pretty bad", it'd be to point out that there's no need to be gentle and diplomatic to apples.

It's not like Red Delicious apples aren't awful. What is the argument here

Red Delicious don't cook and have a weak flavor, but what flavor they do have is sweet and wonderful and everything else is made up for by them being the best-feeling apple as far as biting into goes. So crispy.

Well I prefer my apples to be a little tart, but at least you can back your preference up! All these other guys, I dunno, they seem to be nonplussed by the fact that different breeds of apple taste different. Like, one guy literally said that all apples taste the same.

I was seeing some serious hipster shit going on over that discussion. Which is the norm at Talking Time.

Some people don't need to nitpick over a specific type of apple.

Honeycrisp.  All else is inferior apple.
