Can I get, like, a quick illustration of the room?

I follow Kazz.  Assuming that he is a no-nothing straight-forward sort of person, I go Southwest, then Southwest again.

Niku: You pass through the octagonal room. Brief glimpses of funhouse mirrors, a sandwich on a pedestal and a giant chicken in a cage flicker past your peripheral. You enter the room SW of the octagonal room and find yourself standing in a room with three levers against the NW wall. There is another exit to this room to the SW. Nothing else of note catches your eye upon a thorough visual search.

Through the door to the SW you can see a giant black goat-man holding a huge axe. He seems to be watching you and breathing in snorting, angry bursts. His eyes glow blood red and steam puffs from his nose as he grinds his axe against the ceiling. The only thing that seems to be keeping him from crossing into your room is barely-contained self-control.

Exits: SW, NE.

Items: A 7-foot pole (charred), 1 gold coin, a shoddy, golden crown.

I make friends with the goat-man.

Clearly these bones got here somehow.  Clearly this is an awful, awful place to be.

I huck arrows into and near the bone piles to see if anything gets triggered.

Niku: You approach, hands outstretched, showing no sign of aggression. The goat man lunges at you with his axe, chopping you cleanly in half.

You have died.

whrrrrrrr...click.

Thank you for participating. I have the power to return your consciousness to the entrance of the Labyrinth in a new body if you desire. Or you may stay dead. I leave the choice to you, Niku.

--------

Kazz: From beyond the doors facing the mirrors, white-hot lasers zap any item thrown between the mirror and the doorway to the mysterious room they face. Or is the light coming from the mirrors? You have no way of knowing. From the looks of the heat, it could fry steel. A large pile of ashes lies directly in each doorway to the room the mirrors both face.

Exits: N, W, SE.

Items: A 5-foot spear, a 2-foot pole, 1 gold coin.

I come back to life, return to the room where I was, and offer the goat-man a piece of my bisected former body as a gift of peace.

Against my better judgment, I enter the maze.

Niku II: whrrrrrr... click.

Er, you'll have to forgive me... It seems certain data is hard for me to remember... could you give me a more detailed description of where you'll be traveling, including compass point directions? I'll understand if the last death made it hard for you to recall, as well. Really quite a shame.

--------

Yoji: You are standing in a room with a golden dragon statue that has been beaten to hell. It now more closely resembles a brontosaurus with leprosy. Someone recently burned something in here, judging by the smells.

Exits: SW.

Items: A 10-foot pole, 1 gold coin.

Hm.

I walk back to Dragon Hall, collecting arrows on the way.  Then I stab Yoji in the gut and take his ten-foot pole and coin.

Exit southwest. I barge into the next room and brandish the pole as best I can. Probably knock it against the wall since it's so damned long.

(what's this pole made of, anyway? Anything in particular?)

Yoji: You head SW into the octagonal room. You can see eight exits to this room.

N: A stairwell. The boards are rickety and look a bit unsafe.
NE: The broken-off tail of a brontosaurus with leprosy breathing fire.
E: A five-foot tall chicken in a cage. The cage bars are spaced so that it can peck the floor without being able to escape. Within range of its pecks, on the floor, lies a mallet. There is another door beyond the room with the chicken, and through that you can see wavy mirrors.
SE: A room full of mounted suits of armor. Studded leather, chain, full plate... it's all there. A D&D nerd's wet dream... no weapons though.
S: A golden stripe is painted on the floor of this nondescript room. It leads into the next room beyond, where it splits into four and heads in unknown directions.
SW: This room seems empty save three levers on the NW wall. The door opposite reveals a goat man, guarding a dead body.
W: A single sandwich rests on a pedestal under a glass dome. It looks completely delicious.
NW: A room with black, green, red and yellow tiles. Beyond it is a room full of charred bones.

Your pole is made of very hard, durable wood. It's been lovingly hand-crafted by the Gelatinous Cube Wrangler's society of Burma, as evidenced by the stamp burned into the end.

Exits: N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, and NW.

Items: A 10-foot pole, 1 gold coin.

---------

Kazz: You go SE into the room with the tiles, gather arrows for a bit, then go SE into the octagonal room. You seem disoriented, and walk into the SW room which contains three levers on the NW wall. In the next room to the SW there's a giant goat man guarding a body that's been cut in half. Near the body lies a gold coin and a 7-foot pole.

Exits: NE, SW.

Items: A 5-foot spear, a 2-foot pole, 1 gold coin, 200 arrows bundled in your shirt.

--------

Niku II: You head SW into the octagonal room, and SW again into the room with three levers. Beyond the exit to this lever room, to the SW, is the goat man. You approach the door and pick up your last body's right half, holding it up to the goat man. He chops you in half with an angry scream. This time you had several revelations: 1) The goat-man is covered in tar. 2) He is blind. 3) The room behind the goat-man contains a chest overflowing with gold.

You died. Again.

whrrrrrr... click.

That goat man doesn't seem to like you entering his room. I suggest killing him. Er, if you still want to play. I've yet to see someone give up that early, but then again they all eventually give up. You could save yourself the effort and just stay dead.

I resurrect, light my stick on fire, SW, SW, light his ass UP, form an amazing godly golden crown out of my gained booty, and swim in the rest for a while.

Niku III: You enter the octagonal room, lit pole in hand. You bum-rush the goat, sprinting straight through the lever room and into him, burning point held forward. The goat man shows no reaction as flames start to spread across his fur, and you get a nice view of him igniting from two perspectives as he cleaves your head in half vertically, each eye landing in a different place in the room.

You have died.

whrrrrrrr... click.

Well that was interesting. At least you're getting the hang of things. Try not to get cocky...
