Bright young provincial cabinet minister from Québec dies mere hours after resigning.

I've heard of people being kept alive by work or great projects, and dying within a few days after they can't go on or finish their task, but hours?

Damn.

FAKE EDIT: You can move this to the Canada thread if you figure it belongs there instead. I dunno.

Greg Giraldo has OD'd.

While he was too mean for my tastes, he was good in small doses, and it's always sad to see a successful stand up comedian die.

It's how you know they were a successful stand-up comedian.

Tony Curtis

Chalk this one up to the "He was still alive?" category.

Benoit Mandelbrot

He's survived by two children, though, so rest assured that he is in fact a replicating system.

Alex Anderson, creator of Rocky and Bullwinkle (the characters, not the show, which was of course done by Jay Ward).

Didn't he own a boat called the Yamato? And then fell off another, entirely other ship named Yamato.

I suspect 'Yamato' is the most common name for a boat in Japan for obvious reasons.
