Oh man, that picture of him with Hugo Pratt (the guy who did Corto Maltese), or the barefoot Abbey Road-esque shot.

Also the DiTerlizzi story is incredible.

Josie DeCarlo, widow of Dan and, per Archie Comics, totally not the inspiration for Josie of and the Pussycats fame.

Earl Scruggs, one of the founding fathers of bluegrass and a true American original.

Oh shit I would never have guess he was still alive.  :(

Of course, Lester Flatt died in '79. Scruggs must've been ancient.

EDIT: Okay he was 88, not quite ancient but pretty well along.

RIP Edd Gould (1988-2012)

Apparently this guy was some big internet celebrity, I guess? Like Egoraptor or Harry Partridge.

I used to work in a print & framing store years ago, so Kincade's stuff was always around. I was geniunely surprised to hear he'd died so young... I'd have figured he was much older.

I always thought his title of "Pinter with Light" seemed a bit too self-important, since his work seemed to crib a lot from impressionism.

I don't understand why? I mean, I don't think it had anything to do with his death if that's what you mean, unlike his alcoholism which might go a long why to explain how he died of 'natural causes' at 54. He was not someone I liked artistically and someone I don't think I'd like socially, however I can say I think he died too young and I feel for his family.

I'm not sure Christian fundamentalism permits the assertion that anyone dies "too young" or that God's (ultimate?) plan can be subverted.

Don't know if that's ever a consolation to mourners though.

I think Buge was just agreeing to drop his complaint about the fellow's overstuffed and self-awarded title.

Actually I was hoping to avoid the inevitable awkward debate over a dead person's beliefs/deeds that seem to pop up around here. I stand by my feelings about his work.

Given his professed beliefs I am sure he is overjoyed to be dead, and I congratulate him on making it to heaven.

I hate Thomas Kincade's works with a passion because back when I worked at the bookstore, I often had to man the calendar store and that job had me standing in a corner, surrounded by calendar's with his paintings on them, and not move unless one of the three customers that day asked me to walk to a different part of the store. There's only so long you can stare at a pastel house by a body of water before something inside you breaks.
