See, from my perspective, to call it "lopsided" would be an understatement.  I thought Obama DESTROYED McCain.

The "likeable" ratings and so forth aside, the actual poll numbers CNN produced were identical to before.  But this was a clear win for Obama, 3-for-3.

I'm not ready to say it's over.  I think Obama needs to run the next three weeks like he's 10 points down -- and he has the cash to do it.

But it's PROBABLY over.

As for my favorite line, it was McCain saying, of Biden, "He has made some serious mistakes in foreign policy, which is supposed to be his strong point."

Also, "People who make six figures shouldn't share the wealth" is a stupid, stupid platform to run on in this economy.

In the case of ad saturation, yes.  But if McCain is any indication, you don't want to run a campaign like you're 10 points down.

I really would like an actual explanation for the silly faces.  I'm sure there's a good one and I'm not going to be the other-side-of-the-fence equivalent of the terrorist-fist-bump crowd.

Joe, you're rich.  We don't give a shit what you used to be, and if you were a decent fucking human being you'd realize that giving up a bit of it would help the people that used to be in the same boat as you.

He really does represent the upper-middle-class bracket.  Many of them tend to act like to the point that they honestly believe they are wealthier than they are.  A lot of this, I'm starting to figure out, is a survival mechanism - there's a certain salary point at which people start to judge your merits by how much you're apparently getting paid for them.

Favorite line from McCain of the night? When he called Trig autistic.

My grandmother, who has a doctorate in special ed, spent most of the evening trying to make sense of why he mentioned autism instead of Down syndrome.  Her best guess was that autistic children don't have the support in our educational system that Down's children do and that parents of autistic children are the ones more likely to feel they need help.

Even if he'd said Down syndrome, Gran noted that Palin only had the baby six months ago and isn't exactly an expert based on that.  (She also added, when I brought up the "is it really her baby?" rumor from a couple months back, that statistically it's MUCH more likely for a mother in her forties to have a baby with Down syndrome than a teen mother to.)  Eventually, she thought she remembered hearing Palin's sister had an autistic child, but a cursory glance at Google and Wikipedia doesn't provide any immediate support for that; can anyone else find anything to that effect?

I'm just gonna go with "John McCain doesn't know the difference between autism and Down syndrome."

Not to be too shitty on the guy, but if he doesn't know the difference between the ethnic groups he's pushing a war against, it's fair to say he hasn't taken the time to learn the difference between learning disabilities.  And if he has, he should have been using that time to learn the difference between the ethnic groups he's pushing a war against, fucker.
