Watching the goose waddle back toward the boat around 0:15 while laughing gets me every time I hear it.

Japan knows how to do a fucking opening.

Which is expected seeing as how the standard over there is to spend your entire budget on them.

I'm still not sure why they included Cable. Where were the Sentinels? And Sabertooth? They had bigger roles than Cable. Rogue was barely present except for that saucy wink. And why was Magneto summoning the Brood as they burst from the ground? He hates the Brood as much as any mutant or human! And his power is magnetism! They could have showed him smashing the X-Men with battleships, but they didn't. This was a total misrepresentation of the series as a whole.

Yeah, and Jubilee's mutant power is nowhere near that effective.

http://www.gametrailers.com/user-movie/bayonetta-not-so-subtle-gameplay/333902

mirror of that bayonetta video I posted earlier that got taken down

And Cable is popular with the japanese. He was big in the X-Men manga too, it's not like "Burly guy with gun" is an uncommon manga character and he doesn't dress like a spaz.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that part of the reason the japanese don't get superhero comics is because superheroes all dress in totally bizarre outfits that don't seem to have any rhyme or reason to them. Yes, Cable does look retarded, but he looks retarded in a way that, I guess, they can get?

Ignoring the other very obvious counterarguments, Superheroes wear the exact same fucking thing as Sentai Squads do.  Spiderman is basically a Power Ranger with webbing all over him.  The Japanese are definitely not allergic to spandex or anything.

Really there doesn't seem to be any indication that the Japanese have any particular aversion to icons such as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man, etcetera.  I think the "outcast" type superheroes like X-Men and Hulk probably don't mesh very well with Japan's homogenized culture though.  In a place where the worst thing in the world is to be in any way different from everyone else, the X-Men must come off as a bunch of insolent superpowered freaks.

... i'm not sure if the existence of toho spiderman strengthens or weakens this particular point.

That is sort of the point I was going for. The X-Men all wear different costumes and they are always infighting, compared to a sentai team who all dress the same and always get along all the time, unless they have a Thelma and Louise falling-out (a falling-out that is resolved in 21 minutes, followed by 1 minute of someone making a joke and everyone laughing).

It seems racist and narrow-minded to suggest Japanese culture is so tremendously focused on fitting in that they'd reject the X-men...
Especially when your current av is of an unusually mismatched team of superpowered insolents.

But like Nor said,
