Suddenly, it all makes since.

:slow: Course I bet you could all clearly see my ADHD, Bipolar, Asburger, and... Hmm... I could swear there was a fourth one. Well, must not have been important.  :derp:

It was on the old pyoko boards. I missed out on a generation of gaming because it caused me to be in a mental institution for 6 months.

Treatment worked! It was a very remote Mental Hospital, with a focus on teens, so it was relativlely fast.

(Severe ADHD/Bi-Polar, by the way. Went into an episode and almost killed someone and didn't even realize I was doing it)

You have piqued my curiosity.  If it's not to much trouble, please elaborate.

There's...not much to elaborate on, really. That's what happened. Said person did something, I got mad, didn't realize I was getting out of shape..next thing I know I'm grabbing their neck and swinging them around like a doll. If the adults hadn't shown up when they did, they'd have died.

Oh yeah, this is getting split.  I think it's worthy of its own topic instead of going straight to jail.

Since this is now a I'M CRAZY :wakka: :8V:!!! thread,

The worst things my depression did were:

On one occasion, I felt, well, sort of numb.  More like I was a thin, wiry creature in a thick, rubbery flesh suit.  I'm just glad I never went crazy enough to attempt to free myself of the suit.

On another occasion, I tried knocking myself out with a baseball bat.  Because in my depression, one of the few things I hated more than myself were emo kids, and cutting myself just wouldn't do.

I love my pills.

But yeah, I've had a less than ideal life, what with insurance companies and a lot of people convinced psych is a load of bunk. What are your guys' thoughts on that?

Well, some girl I worked with was saying that all those mental illnesses were bullshit because they wern't there 20 years ago. I told her I guess that makes STDs bullshit too .

Anyone who doesn't think this shit is real is a moron.

The state of the field as a whole?

Psychiatric medicine (read: drugs) can provide a lot of benefit in daily operation.  Adderall did fucking WONDERS for my productivity.

I've never really been big on every-day [psycho]therapy.

I'm not really informed enough to say anything about cognitive therapy.

They're real, but they are also used as a crutch for a lot of dim-witted failures, like guys who can't earn $400 in two weeks of minimum wage work.

I'm a bit concerned that some of the disorders which get introduced are just small clusters of symptoms with little-to-no descriptive power when it comes to identifying the underlying problem or how to fix it.

"You have a case of the ANGRY.  Pay me $100/wk to come talk about it until the problem goes away."
