They just doubled the effectiveness of resilience and I guess they want to try and cut off the Healer Tyranny such a change will bring about.

Not to mention that he could just not resurrect all of the most powerful minions we just cleaved through, leaving behind a bunch of dip-shit ghoul fodder that could be chopped down by the Argent Crusade or just flat out immolated in full by the Red Dragonflight.

Yeah basically the worst "twist" ever which is saying a lot for all the competition it has.

I've never really bought the whole "directionless Scourge is a million times more threatening than if the Old Gods had nukes" shit they're pushing.  It makes no sense.  Without a Lich King to specifically reanimate whole battlefields and shit, it would seem like a simple matter to have a couple raid groups or hell just Sylvannas go on a slaughterfest.  Might have a couple soldiers reanimate in the deal but hell you just punched a floating zombie skeleton with a huge axe and like 10 heads in the dick on your way to slaughtering a bunch of horrible mutants, a vampire clan, and some dragons.

Still holding out vain hope for lavaman really being Deathwing.

Also wouldn't all the undead capable of intelligence turn around and join Sylvannas? It's not like the Forsaken are running around gassing... people... with... new plague...

I can see a weak excuse: The negative power powering the scourge needs to be housed (in all the scourge bodies) or it just goes on a wild uncontrollable rampage killing and corrupting everything indiscriminately.

Still stupid that his first action is not "Every scourge across the world, turn around, march home, and help me redecorate ICC from the ground up for the next fifty million years"

the biggest problem to all of this is that the lich king as an entity has only existed for about forty years - actually, less than that. It does not really make sense that he is now a necessary part of the environment.

Well, there is some suggestion that
it's not really necessary and Ner'zhul is still in the helm in some capacity pulling the strings.  You hear it in Bolvar's progressive voice change throughout the cinematic.  The argument against is that in some faggy Metzen novel Arthas killed Ner'zhul in a dream, but that is both dumb and could just be Arthas himself ignoring Ner'zhul... even though he still seems to be pretty under the thrall of some shit given his dialogue in the cinematic.

It's pretty well established in the novel that Arthas banishes/ignores Ner'Zhul and his own Humanity entirely. This leaves two equally weak fan theories emerging

Arthas has been holding the Scourge back the entire time because of what's left of his humanity!

or

Ol' Bolvar is a future raid boss/villain. They do have to have about 2-3 tiers of content between Raid 1 Cataclysm(Elementals, right?) and Deathwing himself...

Now that I think about it, I'm all for Ner'Zhul returning full Death Knight Lich King style in command of Bolvar's body. Orc Spirit, Human Body. LIKE WHEN THEY MADE REAL DEATH KNIGHTS.
Changes to Culling of Stratholme that allow players to skip past the initial story elements will be in a future patch. What seems simple ended up taking a bit of time to implement, and will take just as long if not longer for QA to fully test. I wanted to make sure the quests are still able to be completed, and nothing broke in some rare but significant boundary cases.

Along with the huge change to allow skipping, there's other smaller changes. I lowered the delay after the first boss dies until the undead waves start again. Arthas no longer physically runs from the front to the inn, he just teleports there. Arthas runs to the bookshelf instead of walking.

Since the launch of the World of Warcraft Armory, we've been regularly releasing updates and new features designed to help players stay connected to the game even when they're not logged in. Today, we wanted to give you a heads-up about a new service now in development that will let players access the Auction House directly through the Armory website or Armory App for iPhone or iPod touch.

While there are still plenty of details to be worked out, we're designing the service to offer auction functionality similar to what's available in-game. Players have been requesting -- and we've been hoping to implement -- a feature like this for a long time, and we're excited that the Armory and the game have evolved to a point that makes it possible.

This is a fairly complex service to develop, due in large part to its unprecedented integration with the game, so we don't have an exact release date yet. It's important to note here that certain elements of the service will be premium-based, which we'll go into more detail on once the service functionality is finalized. As with all of the services we offer, we plan to integrate the Auction House and Armory in a way that won't disrupt the gameplay experience, and we won't release it until it meets the quality standards that we've set for our other features and services. You may be seeing bits and pieces of the Auction House service pop up in the test builds we use for the public test realms as we go through the process of internal testing. We'll have more info to share with you here and at http://www.WorldofWarcraft.com as we get closer to release.

That would go a long way to redeem metzen as anything but an absolute hack.

I don't buy that the Ashen Verdict and its constituent parts couldn't spend a decade or so cleaning up Northrend. Where do the Knights of the Ebon Blade have left to go anyway? I mean, as an organization, they've done what they set out to do or will do shortly. They and the Argent Crusade can spend some time burning great big piles of undead from now until WarCraft 4. They're all sworn to do it.

Valithiria is a fun fight, but there is entirely too much trash between her and Sindragosa.

Though they could really stand to tighten up the Emerald Dream orbs.

"The statue in the middle of Dalaran completely changes (After the server-first Lich King kill), adding a special plaque that allows everyone to view the endgame cinematic by right clicking it.

There is a special ending and reward not included in the leaked video of the Fall of the Lich King posted here on MMO days ago.

It is insanely tuned.  I don't think a strict 10 man guild can ever kill this until certain parts of the fight are changed, and we'd like Blizzard to address these issues."

The new raid weekly that deals with blood wing requires you to clear the wing in 20 minutes, starting from the time you engage the first trash pack. Funny stuff, this patch

After having watched the video, the rationale (Uther notwithstanding) of Bolvar Lichkingdragon comes from the fact that the death of Arthas and the ascendancy of Bolvar is a secret.  While it would be pretty fucking dumb to argue that mindless undead are suddenly more of a threat (even if that does in fact appear to be the argument), the idea that a passive Lich King could still keep individuals like the Cult of the Damned or the Plague Scientists in check by simply changing his M.O. and not addressing the punishment/reward system of undeath is at least plausible.
