3. Nothing good can come of interacting in any way with Benny. Turn around and leave. Ignore him.

You master your feelings and lower the poker.

"You're not worth my time," you say, turning and going back down the steps.

There's no reply, and you don't look back. You head out the front door.

Benny does not follow, as far as you can see. The empty court greets your eyes as you exit the house.

The sun is lower in the sky. You estimate maybe three, four hours to full dark.

Well, now what?

1. Climb the gate and leave. David and Nicole might be in trouble out there. Or maybe David took Nicole. Either way, you need to get moving.

2. Go back and stay another night. You're still not 100%, and wandering around in the dark is bad. Maybe David and Nicole will return, too. You're still not sure they just up and left. Either way, you can decide what to do come morning.

It's possible that note is a hallucination brought on by the invaders to try and keep us away from Nicole. But I really need to sleep on it.

2. Travelling at night with no firearms? Fuck that. That being said, as soon as it's within a couple hours of dawn, time to GTFO.

Changing vote to 1.  Wasting daylight is probably a bad idea, I hadn't realized we had a few hours left.

Kayma finally figured out that the protagonist is James Bond.

In the Bunker, w/ Moonraker lasers.

1. Climb the gate and leave. David and Nicole might be in trouble out there. Or maybe David took Nicole. Either way, you need to get moving.

Time is against you, for the moment. If David and Nicole are out there and need help, you'll need to hurry.

You head back to your house and grab a backpack, filling it with what food and water you can find. Seems to be about a day's worth. Better than nothing, anyway. You take one last look around.

Sunlight streams through the windows, revealing motes of dust dancing in the air. All is still. You gulp down a quick meal of yet another serving of canned fruit as you leave, tossing the can behind you.

The gate stands shut in front of you. Beyond it lays the rest of the world, and somewhere, Nicole and David, and all the rest. You climb over, the slight exertion tiring you more than you expected. Gonna have to take it easy.

You walk down the short road leading to the gate. The road splits left and right. More houses. Ten at least that you can see from your current position. To your left a truck has smashed into the front part of a house, collapsing the entire front section. The truck advertises some plumbing company you've never heard of.

Something to your right catches your eye, and you begin to walk toward it. Something shining in the sun on a front lawn. You walk through the long grass and bend to pick it up.

It's one of those golden dollars they released a while back. It's heads up on the grass. You can't remember if that's lucky or unlucky.

1. Pocket it.

2. Leave it alone.

That's lucky!

This seems like the kind of trap an unduly stupid creature would set knowing next-to-nothing about humans.

... But on the other hand, a piece of currency! Maybe it'll be useful even though all of the structures that made money work have collapsed!

1.  Can't see the harm, I've already walked over here and bent over to stare at it.  If this was a trap there'd be claws in me already, or there will be in a few seconds no matter what I do.

I could use some good luck, and a shiny metal object isn't totally useless.

A coin in tall grass, there could be some kind of snare or trap around it.

Metagaming stuff like this is no fun.  And as much as I'd like to think I am a crazy badass who would instantly check for traps in such a situation, if I was this close, I'd probably already be picking it up.

In honesty, though, if it's not going to trigger some kind of whirling blade or whatever it's got a bit of survival value.

I'm going to go with 1 because we just might find a situation a coin is needed. And they might be leaving us a trail.

And if we're hallucinating it, well, might as well ask Sacagawea for advice.

1. Pocket it.

You reach down and pick up the coin. Turning it over, you see the tails side is scratched up so that the design is obscured. The coin is heavy in your palm. You look at it for a bit longer and then pocket it.

You look back up. The house you're in front of seems intact, and this close you notice the front door is slightly ajar. There's a sedan parked in the driveway. You might be able to find keys inside. On the other hand, maybe you should start searching for Nicole and David?

The welcome mat is bloody.

******************************

1. Go inside. You want the car. You can perhaps search for them with it.

2. You don't want to go inside armed with only a poker. Proceed on foot.
