So, I watched the wedding.  When 3 PM came around- the time everyone told me it was going to be- the bride decided she had to go do something and walked out.  So I Waited a couple of hours, and she walked back in.  The instant the phrase "They have also asked that it be witnessed by their friends and family" was uttered, everyone else got up and left.

Yeah, sometimes this game does inexplicable things that don't make enough sense to be labeled a bug. The first time I ever saw an Outcast, for example, they were shooting at me. At no point were they ever not hostile. I had to look up their wiki entry to find out that they weren't supposed to be hostile, actually.

they often travel with robots, so if you shot at one of their robots from a distance or something that might've aggroed them.

But it's not easier to kill cyborgs with a grenade in Fallout 3.   :ohshi~:

So a friend of mine downloaded the Alaska side-quest a while ago, but didn't tell me. Now, I think I've dug myself into a bit of a hole...

:nyoro~n:: Boy, Moira's jobs sure are tough... Huh? A distress signal?

:nyoro~n:: Jinkies! It's a bunch of guys in power suits! And they're fighting super mutants!
: Hey FNG, use that computer thingy for us and we might just give you the time of day. Oh by the way, you die in real life if you die in the Matri- er, simulation.
:nyoro~n:: Uh... sure. How hard can it be?

:nyoro~n:: Phew! There's that gun I'm supposed to destroy! I was wondering when this would end. I've got things to-
:america:: SUP DAWG, HEREZ DA FIRST OF THREE GUNS WE HAFTA DESTROY! FSU, BRO! SNEAK DAT SHIT!
:nyoro~n:: ...

Now that I think of it, I think I went through something in Oblivion, except by the end of that I'd become a vampire.

I don't suppose there's any kind of content filter for Fallout 3? I ask because Lexi doesn't want to take the Bloody Mess perk because of... well, the bloody mess. That and she's getting tired of blowing off people's heads with even the smallest handguns.

I don't know of any content filters as such, but for what it's worth, the bloody mess is the entirety of the reason one takes Bloody Mess. I'm not clear on why it would be an issue if somebody doesn't want to take Bloody Mess; it's essentially an opt-in for more gore, so it's like ordering a cheeseburger and complaining about it having cheese.

Edit: Okay, looks like your options are pretty much this. There's also a somewhat related mod.

For anybody that missed it: the Capitol Wasteland really is quite lovely this time of year.

Does Bloody Mess have some kind of stat advantage too?  I don't get it.

Actually, yes.  It increases damage, in addition to making everyone you shoot explode into gory bits.

That's kind of dumb.

On the one hand, I'm not a fan of marrying cosmetic and gameplay advantage choices too closely.  However it makes a bit of sense from the 'otherwise isn't it a waste of a perk' perspective.

Except fuck that because it's a damn single-player game.

edit: IN MY DAY bloody mess didn't give any advantage!  and you could shoot children!  blah blah

In your day Bloody Mess was a Trait, and you didn't have to waste a perk to get it.

I actually sympathize.  Not that I disliked the gore in Fallout 3, but the localized, pieces-and-chunks of whatever you just shot off gore is way more aesthetically pleasing than the indistinguishable red blob that Bloody Mess turns everything into.

I always took it anyway for the damage bonus, but to be perfectly honest it's not like you need a damage bonus in FO3.

The damage increase is small enough to give up unless you're trying to beat the game in some sort of challenge mode where you are not allowed to use explosives.

I didn't take bloody mess for cosmetic reasons.  The game isn't very hard.

Explosives are things that turn a dungeon full of twenty Mirelurk Hunters into an enjoyable sojourn.
