'D + Bottlecap Mines' was the way to win any fight.  I guess that would be backwards on the control stick if you rubes played it on 360.

E-X-P-L-O-S-I-V-E-S is a funny way to spell "my fists".

Explosives are things that turn a dungeon full of twenty Mirelurk Hunters into an enjoyable sojourn.

Note: A combat shotgun with face shots accomplishes the same thing without reliance on ordinance.

This method, however, is somewhat less enjoyable.

I made a dinky little weapon mod called "The Launcher" as a result of messing around in the G.E.C.K (the content editor, not the in-game McGuffin) while bored. It is a 10mm pistol that, among other things, (A) does 9999 base damage, and (B) has an impact force of 90000. This results in your targets being launched hither and yon, hence the weapon's name. Give it a try, won't you? It's just a simple 1kb .esp, no need to mess around with archive invalidation or anything of the sort.

Replay Challenge Is Go.

Beat the game on Very Hard with Kenshiro: Fists and Explosives only, No Sneakan, Final Destination.

Explosives are the only crutch I'll permit: I don't think there's really anything short of cheating that'll let me fight Deathclaws with my dukes.

Looted the Tutorial, Hyakuretsu Ken'd Burke, 2/3 Chapter 1 of the Survival Guide.

It was a real bitch punching raider's to death before my first RNG drop for Brass Knuckles.

Yeah, I need to hit Minefield up next anyway.

I intend to get every unique item/bobble-head and all that since it'd be a real wuss move to just hobble through the story as fast as I can.

Deathclaw gauntlet ignores armor, so you CAN actually fight them in melee
(also good against mirelurks and jerks in powerarmor)

ninja perk+5 luck+deathclaw gauntlet=MELEE ALWAYS CRITS

you'll probably want ledoux's hockey mask for the +25 ap also

It's kinda funny how unarmed is good with VATS, yet melee is almost useless with it.

So I finally encountered a Deathclaw. I've only heard of them before, but now I'm left wishing I had more missiles.
And how you could get something like that from a Jackson's Chameleon, I have no idea.
:nyoro~n:: Another great night in the Wasteland!
::D:: I'M A DEATHCLAW!!
:nyoro~n:: Aaaaah!! Flamethrower!
::D:: DON'T THINK SO!

:nyoro~n:: Dogmeat! Nooooo!! That's the third time tonight!

Maybe I'll finish this damned game someday...

So I figured that, now with the Broken Steel DLC out and everything, this might be a good time for me to go back and finish Fallout 3.

...And, apparently the latest patch (1.5) makes all mods ever not work because of, um, absolute references? And you actually need to go back to a previous patch and then install a mod that makes the game think you have a more recent patch or something?

God damn it, Betheseda. I think I'm going to cry.

Was Fallout 3 built for fucking cartridges or something?

The dart gun is absolutely ideal for softening up fast, hard hitting critters like deathclaws. It always cripples both legs, without fail, so you can just backpedal and shoot with impunity, provided you have the space.

Everything running smoothly now. Operation Anchorage wasn't great, but The Pitt was excellent, and Point Lookout is fucking fantastic so far. Then again, I have a clearly-documented history of favoritism towards surreal dream sequences in video games, so
the visions you experience while high on the spores of the giant Punga plant and also being trepanned
were A++ for me.

Haven't gotten to the Broken Steel content yet, but I'm high enough level that some of the monsters have started showing up, and by god but those things can put the fear of God into me. I don't know how much health those fucking Super Mutant Overlords have, but if I had to guess, I'd put the number at somewhere around a zillion. The biggest issue here is that if new enemies spawn as part of a scripted encounter, they can dramatically throw off the expected balance of power - the entirety of my BoS Outcast entourage en route to their base for Operation Anchorage was slaughtered by a single Overlord with a gatling laser.

tl;dr I think I'm going to start carrying a rocket launcher with me at all times.
