I put in three C batteries, and the cats were scared away from their food on a different floor of the house. ::D:

Max and I've been trudging through the campaign on hardcore for a couple days now, and I gotta say, completely satisfied with how this game turned out. I'm still a ways from getting bored with just grub-on-cog urban skirmishing, thanks in large part to the handful of Lancer tweaks that manage to make blind-firing that fucker almost useful outside of sheer cinematic effect -- laying on legitimate suppressing fire while Max flanked around the side just felt natural and almost went down unspoken --  and an awesome new Hammerburst that actually makes getting angry and smashing the trigger faster translate into a better, albeit less accurate, stream of fire.

Butchers and Grinders are keeping things varied and cooperative, even if the medieval chain-flail locust are probably make for the single most annoying enemy in the game. In fact, haven't really found myself using their shield that much, as cool an idea as it is, simply due to how damn much it weighs your character down; machine pistol begs to be fired blind, at near point blank while you dodge around. Does make a fantastic base, when planted into the ground, for setting up a surprisingly badass minigun troika for defense in horde mode -- definitely loving the ease with which you can set these things up in some of the after-20 waves, when you're wading through piles of shields and heavy weapons during ammo runs. Still not really as sold on ink grenades as Max, but I like having the option of tossing them into choke points and setting up a kill zone as the heavies lumber through.

Probably the highest point of the game so far has been the sunken city, which just looks absolutely spectacular and was a joy to fight in. Zombie chamber was a bit annoying, but the rush at the end more than made up for all the laser-tripping bullshit, and I dug the razor hail hazard a lot more than Krill. Worm is easily the grossest thing I have ever had to do in a video game and, while not outright awful, was just incredibly, incredibly unpleasant. Good banter and "exit scene" certainly helped.

Still wishing my lancer would make noise and come to life when I pulled the trigger.  I don't think you can return these things either.  Dammit.  Still looks cool.  Half tempted to get out my dremel and shop for some blue LED kits to make the fucker light up like it should.

You can get boomshot ammo in ammo crates now.  You only get one or two, but it's still fairly good.  All weapons have more lights on them now, so you can see a boomshot being pointed at you (four lights on the nose.)

All pistols have a scope now.  Works nice with the boomshield.  I still like the boltlok pistol, as it is the headshot handcannon.  Kabbage is hardcore sold on the Gorgon pistol.  It does a ton of damage, one full load gives it four shots of five-round bursts.  But the delay between each shot can be panic-inducing at times.

I just love having a weapon for finishing off wounded enemies during pushes, when you're on your feet, advancing towards an encampment or flailing zombie and every other gun save the shotgun is useless. Not to imply in the least that I'd rather Gears'd be more run and gun, but when it gets close-quarters and you don't have time to dig in, it's just deliciously satisfying to be able to bound over a barrier and spray the locust behind it with one fluid movement. Delivers this sort of head-on clash you only get otherwise during a chainsaw duel.

Great for tickers/wretches/wormasites too.

Horde Mode.

Saturn, Kabbage, a friend of Kabbage, and myself embarked into Horde mode.  Normal difficulty, we got to wave 8 before starting to go mad.  Casual, we got to 29 before I went insane.

Horde mode is pretty damn awesome.  Sometimes staying together is bad.  Sometimes splitting up is bad.

Keep an eye on your mailbox.  If you bought a lancer, Amazon is sending you a 'Contact this person to fix your lancer' link and a $10 gift card code.

Getting my ass handed to me on wave 20, by blood mounts. Anyone know a good way to take these things down? Lancers need three full clips and they just waltz through grenade traps - I know you can slow them down by shooting their helmet, but that's not nearly enough time to lay into one without a coordinated group effort.

Bloodmounts are why I choose a hammerburst.  that notch of extra damage really helps on those.

Apparently you will be able to buy COG armor soon.

You can currently get a $650 Locus head, or the $1k lancer that is /far/ nicer looking than the $130 one.

If you're made of god damned money.
