I never shop at Best Buy except for once every other month when they switch their classic TV DVD sales.
This month they have all of the classic Superman series including the theatrical shorts for $10 a pop and three Pertwee Classic Who eps.
Now to wait two months when some new stuff gets in circulation.

Amazon is actually up to its goddam ears in PC game sales today. http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/95204/amazon-pc-digital-download-games-the-walking-dead-10-mass-effect-3-6-batman-arkham-goty-pack-11.50-bioshock-dual-pack-5-bastion is a pretty beefy list, and I don't think it's even complete.

Petco is having a sale on terrariums(not sure if it's in store as well, or online only.

Most notably, the 36x18x24 Large-Tall size, which has an MSRP of $379, has been marked down to $25.99.

Looks like that was a typo, because the current listed price is $259.99.

Dang. Well, my order and several others got through at $25.99, here's hoping they don't get cancelled.

Tor giving away a collection of 151 short stories, free.  Registration required, but they don't even check your E-Mail address so you don't have to give up any real information.

It was supposed to end this past Thursday but they decided to extend it; I think it'll run through this coming Thursday.

I think the only two I've actually read are Down on the Farm and Overtime, both by Charles Stross.  They're both good, but they're part of the Laundry series and you probably don't want to read them by themselves.

(Down on the Farm takes place after The Jennifer Morgue and Overtime takes place after The Fuller Memorandum.  IIRC the timeline's not terribly important but you'll want to read Atrocity Archives first, at any rate, just to introduce the premise.)

I like Charlie Jane Anders's articles on io9 but I've never read any of her fiction; I like Paul Cornell's comics and TV shows but haven't read his prose.  There's one Doctorow story in there (haven't read it either but he generally has interesting ideas if nothing else).  Don't really know the rest but there are some names I recognize in there, like Scalzi and Turtledove.

The whole set's in a single file, so you may as well grab it now and look for reviews later.

If you've been thinking about getting an SSD, and have a little money to drop, Amazon has a 256gb Toshiba for $149, which is a fantastic deal.

FF5 for Android is $11.

Still seems a bit steep, and I'm not crazy about the graphical style.  Anybody know how the translation/gameplay are?  I AM curious about how they've made the touch controls work.

Welp, it's November, and you can tell.

Amazon and Best Buy are both selling the 3DS XL for $170 and the regular-size for $140.  Amazon's got the Vita for $180 but the memory card prices are still murder.  I think my local Target's had the 3G version (with a memory card -- not sure if it's 4GB or 8GB but I'm pretty sure it's not any bigger than that) for $200 for like a month.

I'm keeping an eye out for deals.  As I've mentioned elsewhere, I've got some insurance money coming to cover the stuff that was stolen from me back in August, with the catch that I have to buy stuff before I actually get fully reimbursed.  Thinking maybe replace my old iPod with a new Nexus 5, and I was hoping we'd see the new Nexus 10 by now but no such luck.

(I got a cheap refurbed Samsung Chromebook, which is a pretty neat device for the price but which has vexed me with my inability to configure graphical hardware acceleration.  All I ever really used my old laptop for was browsing the web anyway, and this one does that just fine, but I'd sure like to have the OPTION of SNES emulation.  ...runs Genesis games just fine, though.)

Radio Shack's got the PS Vita 3G for $160.  Stock seems pretty intermittent and I suspect they're clearing out inventory of the original model to make room for the new one.

I doubt you'll find a better price on the thing short of Black Friday shenanigans, and at $160 it starts to balance out the exorbitant price of the memory card.

Worth it?  Not worth it?  Looks like it's got a pretty active hacking scene but Sony's anti-circumvention measures are crazy extreme and as far as I can tell most of the hacks seem to work just in PSP mode anyhow.  Might be better off just replacing my PSP...
