Ever wanted to get Photoshop for free? Well, how about from Adobe?

Link is for a free copy of the Photoshop CS6 Beta.
http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/photoshopcs6.html

Is there an expiry date for that?

Oh and I have to be honest here. I have absolutely ZERO COMPUNCTIONS about "pirating" the work of a man who's been dead for over two-hundred and fifty years.

EDIT: Well, there's one caveat to that. A set like this is maybe not so much about the original work as it is about the performers (in the way that an André Rieu album is not a classical artists compliation, it's an André Rieu album). But any major classical artist has dozens of public-domain-version performances of their work and unless you're a real classical audiophile one international-quality orchestra is going to be as good as another.

From an RIAA affiliate, so no, not even for a dollar.

(Not casting aspersions on anyone who buys it; obviously it is a very good deal.  But not for me, and if anyone else cares about that sort of thing, there it is.)

Hmm. That cinches it, really. I realized somewhere I wanted to buy legitimacy and convenience more than I wanted to buy music, and in these circumstances it's debatable whether I would even get that much.

Tom Tomorrow is cleaning house; among other items there is some unique Pearl Jam memorabilia (he drew the cover for Backspacer).  Pretty low bids at this point (though shipping is pricey); auctions end Sunday.

50% off all O'Reilly ebooks (that's the publisher, not the pundit) today using code "DRMFREE".  Because apparently today is the International Day Against DRM, or, as I like to call it, Friday.

Does that mean you're not against DRM 6/7 of the time?

In case any of y'all are fans of Norah Jones, Amazon Local has a deal where you can get her new album for $3.99. It's a bit complicated, because rather than just selling the album for $3.99, they're selling a code for free that lets you buy the album for $3.99 from Amazon's MP3 store.

Also, the link says San Diego East County, but it should work from anywhere.

In celebration of their 2 year anniversary, Halfbrick is giving away Fruit Ninja gratis. Of course, the site is currently borked due to overload, but at some point you'll presumably be able to get a copy.

$50 Kindle.

It's the 6", ad-supported version, but still and all, that might just be inside my impulse-buy zone.  (Joke's on you, Amazon -- I ain't buying SHIT with DRM on it.)

EDIT: Whoops, looks like it sold out sometime between my lunch and now.  Oh well.

It supports most other ebook formats. You can fill it up with Project Gutenberg.

All the Kindles actually have a 6" screen, aside from the old big one. It's just the frame around it that gets miniaturized.

Yeah, and Tor's going DRM-free too.

Yeah, Calibre is awesome and is pretty much must-have software if you're reading ebooks in any format on any device.

I've got a 10" laptop with Ubuntu on it; that's my current e-reader.  It's pretty decent.  But if I see another $50 Kindle I might snap it up.

I could kiss you both. Calibre is fucking excellent. Can't tell you how happy I am to have my crappy textbook PDF converted to an honest to goodness mobi with a table of contents. Godsend.

Guess we can throw neat Kickstart shit on here too, eh?

Then here's a cool Baseball Comedy Horror comic drawn by the guy who did Orc Stain.
