Well, it'll either be under Linux where it only runs when I execute the program, or under a Win8 install that I'm going to nuke when it expires in two months.  But yeah, the thought had occurred to me.

(And no, not installed yet; the GameFly client craps out when I run it in WINE and I haven't tried it in Windows yet.  Haven't even downloaded Bioshock.)

EDIT: Oh right, there's a Mac version too.  So that's a third option.

EDIT 2: Tweaked the usual WINE settings (run in virtual desktop/WinXP compatibility) and the client no longer crashes as soon as I open it.  Now it waits until I try to download Bioshock.  Guess I get to find more things to tweak...

EDIT 3: Okay, here are the winecfg settings that got it to quit crashing and start downloading, just in case anybody stumbles upon this searching for how to get gamefly.exe to behave itself under WINE (since it's not in the appdb...).

Windows Version: Windows 7
Graphics tab:
    Automatically capture mouse: NO
Allow WM to decorate windows: NO
Allow WM to control windows: YES
    Emulate a virtual desktop: YES

Everything else is set to default.

Best Buy and it's website are holding a (mostly) Doctor Who Blu-ray sale. It's all $20 a piece, so Series 5 is the best deal while the Christmas specials less so.

Big sticky ball of semirecent THQ games for $10.

Includes Spess Mahreen, does not include Sents Roal III which is $10 by itself over here.

Vita bundles for $200

The COD game is a shitty rip off cash in, but the AC game is stupposed to be pretty good and the white color is bitchin'. Not that I am in position to make any such declarations and note my statements are entirely anecdotal evidence, but I would say that if you want a Vita there isn't going to be a better price drop any time soon.

Cheap Ass Gamer says Amazon is going to have the AC3 bundle with a code for Playstation All-Stars for $179 on their Gold Box page at noon PST.

Monoprice tablets apparently offer better performance than most $400 industry-standard tablets. For $48.

This review has been echoed by a lot of artists on the internets, Emmy Cicrega being the most notable one I've seen so far.

I believe it.  Their 5.1 speaker system is fantastic; I bought it for about $80 less than a year ago, after reading a cnet review that pretty much says "If you want a better speaker set you're going to have to pay $400 for it."

The main reason I went for a wacom over a monoprice last time was that the monoprice ones didn't have a pressure-sensitive eraser end on the pen. That thing really comes in handy.

Wants to install stuff on your phone, which makes me a little nervous.  Anybody know anything more about it?

I got mine yesterday! The thing it wants to install is a combination of drivers and app market for games that are specifically designed to use this controller. It also came with the advertised code for Modern Combat 4, as well as free downloads of Pac-Man and Sonic CD.

The controller itself seems pretty well built. I really just had one problem: one of the battery covers(it takes two AAAs, one on each side of the back) was a bit of a pain to get back on, but that's the only major problem I've had(I seriously thought I was going to break the damn thing trying to put the cover back on). The face buttons are a bit small, but the overall layout is akin to a 360 controller, minus the d-pad, with analog nubs that feel nicer than the PSP's.

I'll post again once I've had a chance to play a game with it, but overall, not sure if it's worth full price, but for $5, with three free games, I'd say it was worth it.

EDIT: Also, the app has an annoying habit of popping up a CONTROLLER NOT CONNECTED notification fairly regularly when the controller is not connected(obvs); I'm not sure if that can be turned off, but I usually have dozens of notifications popping up from other apps anyway, so it's not that big a deal.

EA mobile sale -- DeadSpace for a buck

Square Enix has some sales on too; iOS FFT for $9, Android FF1 for $5, CT for $7.  Just in case there's anyone who hasn't already bought all those games 2 or 3 times already.

Adobe CS2 is now free.  Useless if you have a current Mac, but the Windows version should work fine.  The site, as you might expect, is being slammed, so you might not be able to get it right now.  Still, it's an interesting experiment.

(Would be better still if they released the source, but hey, maybe next time.)

Adobe CS2 is now free.

Officially it's only for people with existing licenses.  On the other hand, since I have to assume Adobe isn't staffed by complete delusionals, the lack of even token enforcement on those downloads suggests they just don't care.

Fair enough.

So it's abandonware.  The license is TECHNICALLY still binding, but they're opting not to enforce it anymore.
