So do you need a serial number for this? I was going to share this with a lot of folks for whom it might be useful. If they need to input some baloney number I should probably let them know!

EDIT: Never mind, I just saw where they state that the download "doesn't require an activation code".

The please don't donwload this is making me laugh quite a bit.

It's rather like a dealer who sells new Ferraris saying "I am just going to be leaving this fifteen-year old Ferrari trade-in with 100,000 kms on the odometer parked here, with the door unlocked, and the keys on the seat. I will never be looking at it again. Unless you happen to own one just like it, please please don't take it for a spin. And especially don't do burnouts in that parking lot across the way or see how quickly you can get it to 200kph on the highway. It really wouldn't do at all for you to find out how awesome Ferraris are. Unless you owned one of course. Dum deedly dum." and then looking at the sky and whistling.

All I have to say is, it's nice having an anything-standard editor again.  I really wish Adobe had some actual competition so this wouldn't be such a thing.

Yeah, tempting as it is to think about this as a marketing experiment (which was my initial reaction) I think Occam's Razor is that the IT department showed somebody how much money the company was spending on trying to prevent piracy of a program that was released in 2005 (fun fact: it didn't work then either) and the lawyers said "Well okay you can drop this but you better put up a disclaimer that you're not actually giving it away even if you are."

Bought a CD from Amazon in the past 15 years?  It might be available in the Cloud Player courtesy of the new AutoRip service.

For me this is more of an amusing novelty than anything, as I can now find out the answer to the question "What the fuck CD's DID I buy from Amazon, anyway?"  Seeing as I stopped buying from the labels some time around 2001.  And I've ripped all my CD's to FLAC anyway.

...turns out it's two Rocky Horror cast albums (London '73 and Broadway '99) and Mink Car by TMBG.

...well, and the usual disquieting reminder that Amazon has kept a record of every single thing I've ever bought from them and probably every single thing I've even LOOKED at on their site.

PSP3K for $100

And then you can load it up with half-price Final Fantasy games from PSN.  No Crisis Core, and for some reason FF1&2 are the PS1 versions and not the PSP versions, but hey, they've got War of the Lions for five bucks.

(I'm thinking of checking it out but it doesn't look like you can browse the store from a regular Web browser, and I can't find any information on accessing the PSN store from a PSP running custom firmware that's more recent than 2010.)

Never got to play the downloadable version; I'm assuming it doesn't have the same hilarious "10 seconds to load a fire effect" problem as the UMD.

It turned out to be pleasingly trivial to
(I'm thinking of checking it out but it doesn't look like you can browse the store from a regular Web browser, and I can't find any information on accessing the PSN store from a PSP running custom firmware that's more recent than 2010.)

That's probably because you don't NEED any special programs to access the PSN store from CFW 6.60.

I upgraded to 6.60 and it was pleasingly smooth: download and install Sony's firmware upgrade, download the latest CFW archive, put PRO_UPDATE and FastRecovery in the GAME directory, run them in that order, and Bob's your uncle.  You can activate your device and access the store, and yes all my homebrew still works too.

How smooth was this?  So smooth that I have a thoughtful neighbor with an open access point so I didn't even have to bother setting up a router with WEP.  (PSP 3000 doesn't support WPA2, and obviously I'm not going to use WEP on my main router.)

So, okay.  Seeing as how I'm not going to buy FF4 again because I still haven't finished the LAST version of FF4 I bought, is Dissidia/Duodenum worth ten bucks?

...is it worth putting my credit card information on PSN?

[...]Duodenum worth ten bucks?
That'd be quite cheap for a piece of small intestine.  :whoops:

Duodecim is fun though, and worth it.

(Sorry, had to.)

I thought the Dissidia game I played (the first one) was absolutely godawful personally, but I also didn't invest too much time into it.  Mostly because of the godawful first impression.  It's a little like Psychic Force combined with way too many pointless Final Fantasy subsystems.

Yeah, I mean, I probably won't, because I'm doing a very good job of pulling up The List and sternly tut-tutting myself every time I feel like spending money on a game.

Hell, if I wanted to spend ten bucks on something by SE I'd have grabbed the Deus Ex: Human Revolution pack on Steam last week.

Adobe CS2 is now free.

Officially it's only for people with existing licenses.  On the other hand, since I have to assume Adobe isn't staffed by complete delusionals, the lack of even token enforcement on those downloads suggests they just don't care.

Did anyone get the serial number for this? I downloaded the software but didn't realize the serial # which was required was on that page and now they've made the dowloads page only open to people with Adobe customer accounts. I can't seem to google it (I'd bet anything that Adobe is all over Google to bury any results for "End of life serial number").

EDIT: Got it. Spent a while in the bowels of the google search and eventually it coughed up a third party site with the info.

Isn't it here?

First page of Google for "Photoshop CS2".

How many of Mongrel's posts could just be replaced with a confused old man looking at a computer?

And now SE's got 40% off on physical media -- all the way back to Chrono Cross.  (And FF Anthology/Chronicles, if you want those for some reason, but they're pretty much the worst versions of those games.)

That mostly made me pissed that the Mana series got destroyed by extreme mismanagement.
I am in a sour mood I guess.

Just got this electrical duster shiz. If you use a lot of canned air it's definitely worth it, and according to some reviews I saw can drop as low as forty bucks.

It is crazy strong and cleared half the driveway when I was pointing it away from my computer for a second.
