Leave it up to PETA to overdo things. Why do the eggs bleed?

Not to mention the feathers. At one time, I cracked about 2 gross of eggs a day. No feathers!

I haven't worked with uncandled eggs, but I have this strange feeling that feathers aren't present until fairly late in development...

The eggs you eat aren't fertilized.  There's no chicken in there, or even a potential chicken.  It's just chicken placenta.

Which might actually gross you out more than the bleeding eggs if you're the sort of person who thinks about things too much, but the point to focus on is Peta Doesn't Even Know What's Going On.  Or rather, whoever made the game doesn't.  The longer this stupidity goes on the more convinced I become that some portion of the organization is trying to set it up as its own strawman, because for fuck's sake.

I got an egg that had blood in it once.  Totally ruined the food I cracked it into.  There wasn't a white or a yolk, just a bloody slurry.  My sister says she once cracked an egg and got a half-formed chicken fetus, complete with tiny bones.  Not really the norm, but ...

Do you understand how terrifying the words “vibrating strap on” are for an asexual? That’s like saying “the holocaust” to a Jew.

Candling should catch any embryo after its first couple of cleaves. I don't know enough about the process to say anything one way or the other. Though to find a bloody slurry...

Yipe.

Suddenly I want to play some serious Odin Sphere.

On Halloween I ate a deviled egg with a partially-split yolk. It looked like an 8 stuck inside the white.

I think I just realized that means the egg had to have been fertilized.

Mmm, rooster semen!

Dear god, she's got that poor eagle turkey in a headlock, somebody stop her.

Also, are they over the line on copyright shit by using the actual name and image directly there or what?  I'm not up on Fair Use.

I believe as long as they do not profit and explicitly state that it is an unauthorized derivation, they are under the umbrella of Fair Use by way of parody. Like you, however, I'm no lawyer, and I'm sure a proper legal team could still wring something out of this that would stick.

It's just a question that does come up when something like this happens seeing as most parodies "play it safe" and change it to Kitchen Mommy or whatever, was curious.

As much as I want to give PETA some small amount of credit, it mostly seems like they rode the white guilt train past ABUSES AGAINST HUMANITY station and ran right off of the rails into absolute bonkers-loonyland.

They seem to have many almost reasonable humane treatment programs, but at the end of the day PETA is basically full of nutters who, for whatever reason, want to use energy stopping abuse against nonhuman animals instead of stopping abuse against humans. There are probably somewhat sane reasons for this, but at the end of the day they're nutters!

On the *cough* up-side, they have had some kind-of risque ad campaigns:
Christy Turlington in an anti-fur campaign.
Shilpa Shetty in an anti-circus campaign.

I'd say those are both SFW, but I'd rather not take chances and continue to let wikipedia host them.

That Shilpa Shetty one makes animal abuse look pretty sexy, actually.

The fur trade is disgusting, and PETA needs to be driven into the sea for legitimizing it.

PETA's also done wonderful things like euthanize tons of pets given to them when the owners were not clear on that fact and in fact assumed they were running a rescue/adoption program.

I don't mean to be a prick, but what makes the fur trade disgusting, and how unacceptable is it as compared to modern livestock conditions?

Both fur and livestock are prone to the same major problem, i.e. the people running the businesses are morally-blank, profit-driven ratfucked sonsabitches.  The main difference is that food is, for all intents and purposes, necessary, whereas fur in an age of synthetic materials largely isn't.  But then, I have a real leather jacket, but then again, I'm fairly certain that cow had a few other purposes too.  Point is they both need some moderation.

Peta, on the other hand, is off championing causes that don't actually exist, and really should not be listened to, ever.  Fortunately they're getting there.

I don't mean to be a prick, but what makes the fur trade disgusting, and how unacceptable is it as compared to modern livestock conditions?

Third world countries and dirt-poor workers who (not surprisingly) do not give a damn about animal welfare if they are tasked to provide hides and it's the only way they're going to get money.  (As Brentai said, the exploitation of this is where the blame lies)

So, as one example, the cheapest and most efficient way to kill and skin the animals is to just pick them up and swing them downward, slamming their head into the ground repeatedly.  Once it stops struggling they're skinned immediately.  Sometimes they're not actually dead when that happens, they've just stopped moving.

All this for an item of pure vanity, which can even then be easily imitated synthetically.  There's no motivation behind the purchase of real, authentic fur beyond a mindless consumeristic avarice; livestock, while conditions are deplorable there as well, at least provides necessary sustenance.

I'm sure someone else can get you a video if you want, or has already done so while I write this.

That's bull. Synthetic fur feels cheap and nasty. Claiming a motivation of avarice is equally bull.
