Pffft. I haven't got to his whole post, I'm still trying to figure out SOME way in which just the first line makes even the least amount of sense:

Pixar is Disney's Crackwhore!  :perfect:

Hey hey hey hey, The Princess and the Frog will be the last traditionally animated film they make.

I...rather hope not!

Yeah, I doubt that Lasseter will let it end there.

Well, they have been saying it'll be the last traditionally animated one, and I won't be surprised if it is, because Disney likes sucking more than making pretty traditionally animated films.

Didn't they bring on the Lilo/ENG studio specifically to do all the traditional animation for them?

Traditionally animated? Possibly.

2D? Depends on your definition.

Well, they would have had to, considering they shuttered their own traditional animation studio (yes, that would be THE Disney Animation Studio) two years ago.

Also, I recall Lilo and Stitch actually being an outside idea that was so well-liked, they took it and ran with it.

Thank you for bringing up Rapunzel before I could, Arc.  I think that has the potential to look fucking awesome once they get it nailed down.

They closed their animation studio 5 years ago.  Home on the Range was originally the last traditional, 2D animation from Disney for the big screen.  I already stated that in the thread.

But 2 years ago, the animation studio was re-opened because of the acquisition of Pixar.  Princess and the Frog is actually the first film since the re-opening.

Well I know that the Princess and the Frog has been in production a while and I could've sworn they had always planned to have it be the last traditionally animated film, but maybe I read wrong somewhere.

Wouldn't make much sense, really.  If it's a success, that's every reason to make more; saying upfront it's going to be the last one would essentially be planning for it to fail.

Plus it bears noting that the Pixar guys are all huge nerds like us and would love to see more traditionally-animated movies even though they're largely responsible for the current dearth of same.

I thought about putting up "The Rite of Spring," but frankly, it drags in places. Anachronistic dinosaur fight notwithstanding.

You know, I don't rag Disney too hard on that recycled stuff mostly because at the time animation was becoming really expensive and Disney hadn't had a big hit in awhile.

Which is what makes the animation recycling in Beauty and the Beast the strangest one.  Though, that can be reasoned as simply their homage to the one of the studio's most gorgeous works.

Sleeping Beauty might be gorgeous but it sure was boring and had a pretty shit story.

Semi-off topic= you know what I liked from Ratatouille? There was no real "bad guy" in the movie. I really didn't like it when
The villan falls to it's death
in Up, why can't they
make him stay stranded on the jungle or fly away on the balloons he had tied to him. Not that I'm against death in a cartoon, but falling to one's death is pretty much what is expected.
I will agree with you on the second point.

The Movie was called 'Up'.

Hence, the villain had to fall 'down'.
