Maybe I viewed it more favorably through the glowing cotton-candy vision of a child.

I think Capcom learned their lesson after the Darkstalkers and Street Fighter cartoons.

All my fond memories of non-game Street Fighter media stop right along with the credits of the animated movie.  They've yet to top that shit.

I wanted to like DARK HADOU Street Fighter Alpha, but...come on.  Giving Ryu a kid brother and suddenly everyone knows how to tweak out like Akuma?

That'd be the one I watched as a kid. Granted, I said the same about Transformers and when I watched some of the old episodes a few months ago, I couldn't believe I liked it.

Maybe I viewed it more favorably through the glowing cotton-candy vision of a child.

   STOP DIGGING.

Transformers was a good cartoon that had some shitty episodes.

Mega Man was a shitty cartoon.  I'm told it had some good episodes, but I've never seen one.

I mean, I'm a Thundercats fan, but I can still go back and say "Oh my, everything from New Thundera on is godawful, and even the stuff before is pretty hit-or-miss."

Mega Man I was old enough to hate from the get-go.  Honestly, even with the hideous character model and croaky voice, Captain N was a better Mega Man cartoon.

(I feel like I should threadsplit but I can't figure out where.)

Mega Man was entertainingly awful, though.  They seemed to have fun with it.  I can totally believe that it was meant to be a Springtime for Hitler sort of thing.

(Not linking this time because I've got better things to do.)

It had its moments of entertaining awfulness, but my recollection was that it was mostly too half-assed to even be the good kind of bad.  Like Loonatics Unleashed.

:over9000:

It... was already released on DVD.

Correct. This is meant to be a more affordable re-release. Which means some folks actually had to buy the original releases to justify this new set.

I bought it in early 2003.

Transformers was created to sell toys?  Why, I had no idea!  Your deep level of insight has truly enriched the conversation, Defenestration.
