Verge is easier?  I can't beat it.

the eversion is subtle enough that you can play through the first two levels without seeing it and quit out of boredom/frustration, which is a potential problem.  It's certainly what I did on my first playthrough.

Well, verge is certainly easier right off the bat. I don't know if it escalates significantly farther in the game, because I quit out of boredom before that ever happened.

Verge is easier in that you can't die--well you can, but you have to really suck--so you just keep fucking up a jump over and over until you get bored instead of getting a game over and going back to a checkpoint or something.

No, it's pretty easy to die on a later level on accout of the soulsucker things hiding in the floor and shit.  And there are no checkpoints.

The only time I got died was on purpose when I got bored.
And there are no checkpoints.

Jayisgames likes it except for the people that don't get it.

The 'how to get past world 2' thing is still on at full force.

You need to make it obvious that there are such things as eversion points for most people.  Not so much "they need to be clearly visible" but a subtle hint that there's something around, like make the overlaying music track get progressively louder as you approach it.

Furthering my suspicion that Eversion stands alone, while Verge works off creator hype.

Oh, and

Now someone figure out how to capture video, because FRAPS & HyperCam 2 aren't working out.

ver1.4 was released and it's a bit more blatant on worlds 1 and 2.

in other news, the game is really popular in 4chan's /x/ of all places.

Well, I tried again, and nope I suck too hard to get all the gems.  The fact that there's a single-block-wide hole you need to fall down at the end of level 6 is what fucks me up.  Since I can't see what I'm doing, I always end up just standing on the edge of it until I can see and then I don't have enough time to break the blocks and get those last fucking gems.  The one's right before the checkpoint in that level are a bitch too, but that is entirely my fault.  Same as the ones in level 7 where I just can't go that long without dying and then the blocks reset.

Most excellent work, Zara.  My only complaint would be with the jumps through one-block safe zones.

Also, I am "hip" and "with it".   :slow:

:humpf:

I played through the latest version for laffs last night and noticed that Zara has made the hitboxes in That Area even more forgiving. If you can't do it now, there is basically no hope for you, ever.

I beat the game with both endings.  Those jumps are still rather finicky, but I can imagine that it's much improved.

 :mahboi:
I don't know who made Verge but you have to admit that it looks better than Eversion and at first playing it seems better, but the game's gimmick (which is good) becomes old once you've seen it once and just ends up being a puzzle platformer, complete with pushing boxes. Eversion managed to make me keep playing even thought at first I thought Zara went crazy and made a mediocre Mario Clone (I think that's everyone's first impression), it's not until later that it gets interesting with the creppyness and eversing mechanics. Also, Verge has better graphics even though it's "copying Cave Story" again.

And Eversion got its own thread in The Something Awful "Games" forum. So far Zara has been called a "sperger" once, and in emoticon mode.

Conglaturations Zara and warn me of future contests, I may suck compared to you but a few minutes in Klick n Play* is better than wondering "what if..?".
