Just pointing out that Eversion is this weekend's freebie fun club over at Talking Time. I also made sure to hype the podcast.

nevermind, figured it out, would be nice if there wasn't a point where you just get stuck with no way to turn back

pretty easy.  Not sure if I like it better than old world 8 or not, but it works thematically at least.  Enemies seem to flicker whenever you kill them, appearing briefly elsewhere on the screen.  Going left sometimes seems to warp the world on the right.

All of the 'points were you just get stuck' appear to be based on situations where I went left, and then returned right and found myself in a completely different place. Usually one I couldn't do anything at.

So do you want screenshots of all the places where you respawn in an unwinnable eversion spot due to the black stuff cutting off your exit, or is that by design?  Seriously asking, not being a dick

I like this world better because it doesn't have the annoying "wait till the correct eversion level is present" design. Really, though, I think you should go from happiest to darkest, not the other way around.

Or even better, keep what you have, but once you get to the flag, instead of a flag, another eversion point, and then more world to go all the way back down.

Anyway, love the new regeneration effects and such. Aside from the flicker glitch, great work. I really didn't expect you to revisit this, and am pleased with the result.

this is a v. good point.

I think you should go from happiest to darkest, not the other way around.

I think the intent is that you spend the entire game getting darker and darker.  You can then collect all the gems, opening the final world, and this is your chance to actually make things back to how they used to be by going back to happy land.  (Good end!)

yeah, I suppose. But then the actual ending is still all dark (though less so than the bad end because <3)

I guess it would be up to Zara??!?!!?11

siding with you requires less work so i am betting on that

Clearly you need to go from happy to dark, then from dark to happy, and at the end you overshoot and go to too happy.

That's when you start running into the hugely smiling clowns and little girls with pupil-less eyes.

And then the ending suddenly makes sense.  Because you're rescuing the Princess of Layer 8 from Layer -8.

So it appears the parts where I was "stuck" were just me not seeing solutions actually.

However, the part where you have to edge-jump onto spikeplant blocks just precisely is something I'd be in favor of changing.  It's unintuitive and really difficult to pull off and might be offputting to a lot of players.

Other than that, fucking great.  Love the regen effects and the layout is solid.

also I figured taking you all the way to happy land in the last level makes the true-end a sharper turn.  IT'LL BE BETTER NOW RIGHT?  RIGHT?  OH GOD  :ohshi~:

If you are holding left as the stage starts, the black stuff won't appear and you can wander back to see the dead end. It'll only reappear once you scroll further to the right.

Something like this was mentioned in the Eversion podcast, and I think it's a pretty good idea. Otherwise, Niku is right on the money.

I made it through the level without any game-breaking glitches - the only glitch I personally noticed at all was the one with the orange enemies flickering briefly when you kill them.

I like the level where it keeps switching. I felt really clever when I climbed up to the top of the level at that one part and walked over half of the level.
