Who throws a shoe, honestly?

My guess is he'd be sentenced to community service and then get a book deal.

I gave this topic a split because I don't think it really fits with schadenfreude.  That would imply that Bush was actually hurt in some way.

I agree that it's kinda sad.  It's one of the most disrespectful gestures in that culture, but here it's just a joke.

If he had done just the slightest bit of research, he could have just raised his middle finger and appalled every man and woman in the U.S.A.

Thad, please don't hang me for treason, because Kotau's horrible naming convention for URLs clearly defines what this is:

Did anyone else just unload right into Bush the first time they played that? NOT THAT I WOULD DO ANYTHING LIKE THAT FBI HAHAHA I LOVE DEMOCRACY HOORAY FOR APPLE PIE

Bush: "No hard feelings."

Hard to stay mad at a guy who already had his arm and ribs broken and could go to jail for up to 15 years over an insult.

...I kind of suspect they're going to try to charge the guy on attempted assassination just to uphold the 20-Year Curse.

I'm actually kind of shocked that it's only three years.

Makes sense as he didn't even really do anything besides toss shoes which didn't even hit their target and yelled at a guy who smirked through the whole thing, oblivious to the point the reporter was trying to make. I never did look too much into that story though I assumed from his rage that the reporter had known someone who had died due to insurgents or something and was personally angry at Bush, moreso than making a political statement.

I'd be curious to see what conditions he lived under.

Also, call it... a suspicion, but I'm pretty sure he will not bear the same burden of shame as your average north-american ex-con does from his term of imprisonment.

Except that smirking guy was the leader of a country.

Even if it's just a shoe, most people in the world would rather you didn't directly attack a guy who can call down a nuclear strike.

Heh. That would have been some really old-school mad-king type stuff if Bush had called down a nuke strike in a fit of pique over offended dignity.

I have no doubt that there are folks on this planet who would be thrilled by such a regression.
