It doesn't even matter. Obama became president at noon, oath or no oath.

CNN made a fancy pseudo-kinda-3D photomontage thing of the instant Obama was sworn in. It's kind of nifty.

Can you find the governator?

Obama becomes President, and suddenly I get my back pay.

Coincidence?  ...well, yeah, but it's a pretty meaningful one.

George W Bush left me, at one point, utterly ashamed to be an American.

Now I am entirely too pessimistic to do anything but wait for Obama to live up to even a bit of his hype.

I hate that we have to see these sort of pathetic, pandering bullshit stories from both sides. I don't care if Obama dropped his Blackberry. I don't want to listen to bitter Republicans openly wishing for Obama to monumentally fail so that they can cover it and hold poor old Georgie boy up on a pedestal.

That is what I've seen over the past few days of my curious pokin' around on the net. People actively pining for more disaster to befall America because it'll be on Obama's shift. It's disgusting.

I want to see a man in charge of America do something that benefits America. I don't exactly mention it ever, but I'm kind of a patriot. I hate Bush the most for making America weak and botching the "War on Terror."

So.. here's to waiting! As good an excuse to drink as any, why not.

CNN just reported authorities are claiming two million attended, and zero arrests were made.

Zero.

That.... really is amazing.

I'm finding it harder and harder to be pessimistic lately. It's unsettling.

...that's actually amazing.

I was pretty much convinced there would be some kind of stampede or trampling death there.  At the very least injuries from all that crowding.  That there wasn't even any arrests?  Jeez.

Of course I could be a real ghoul and suggest all sorts of sordid crimes were no doubt commited in the crowd and our new shadowy illuminati overlord refused to let the police take any action so that it could appear nothing occured!

But that's not fun unless they're like, really fun crimes.

Your revolution is over, Mr. Obama. Condolences. The bums lost. My advice is to do what your parents did; get a job, sir. The bums will always lose. Do you hear me, Obama? The bums will always lose!

[The White House is on fire]

Well, they finally did it. They killed the fucking White House.
Ve vant ze money, Obama.
Ja, uzzervize ve invade Iran next week.
Ja, it seems you have forgotten our little deal, Obama.
You can't invade fucking Iran! You aren't President anymore!

[The Bush White House, stunned, confers amongst themselves in German]

Are these the Nazis, Joe?
No, Hillary, these men are Republicans, there's nothing to be afraid of.
Ve don't care. Ve still vant ze money, Obama, or ve fuck you up.
Fuck you. Fuck the three of you.
Hey, cool it Joe.
No, without the White House, there is no ransom. That's what ransom is. Those are the fucking rules.
We gave Israel permission to attack Hamas!
And Condi cut offs her toe!
She thought we'd be getting a billion dollars!
Iss not fair!
Fair! WHO'RE THE FUCKING REPUBLICANS HERE!? WHAT ARE YOU, A BUNCH OF FUCKING CRYBABIES?
Look, pal, there never was any money. Greenspan kicked the can down the road and let the economy go to shit, so take it up with him, man.
And I would like my undies back.

[Stunned, the Bush White House confers amongst themselves again]

Are they gonna hurt us, Joe?
No, Hillary. These men are cowards.
Okay. So we take ze money you haf on you, und ve calls it eefen.
Fuck you.

Never send a Roberts to do a man's job.

Yeah, I remember hearing a thing this morning that he has a 78% approval rating, and that was impressive to me; it implies that half the people who didn't vote for him (give or take a couple percent for several things) nevertheless approve of him. That's better than I would have hoped for.

And you have to assume that of the 22% who don't approve of him, maybe half are motivated politically.  So the other half just hate black people.  That's pretty good!

He's the President of the Fucking United States of America.

My stepfather commented that Bush looked extremely healthy compared to every other President he's ever seen stepping down.  I noted that (W.) Bush didn't seem to be doing half the work that the other Presidents were.
