I have most of the issues between 100 and 200, and a few here and there after that. I definitely have the Halo 2 blowout preview with all the sprite art. There's this great two page sprite art diagram of planned multiplayer features. Great stuff.

They used to do some great fold out posters too. I don't think they ever quite got up to the the amazing ones Nintendo Power was doing in the SNES era, but I have one still that is the FFX Amano cover.

Cover feature from the lamentably unpublished real last issue of EGM. Featuring a special letter from Yoshinori Ono on his memories of EGM.

Joystiq: Sales of official PlayStation & Xbox magazines soared in 2008.

Combined, sales of both equaled just a bit higher than EGM.

Sharkey offers suggestions for changes; is summarily gagged.

Shane hired by Ignition Entertainment. Known for their budget titles, the opening of new studios hints toward larger productions on the horizon.

This week, FileFront.com (Ziff-Davis, 8 years), Blender (Alpha Media, 15 years), and Anime Insider (Wizard Entertainment, 8 years) are all closing.

All because UGO refused to save them!

At this rate we'll be the only place left to go to hear people get angry about videogames!

That's the last thing we need.

We'd be like the Anime and Game version of MTGSalvation.

Most of us don't need to get senselessly angry at videogames.

The WoW thread siphons all our darkest, most immature and irrational anger so we don't have to!  :perfect:

Man, what did Fallout 2 ever do to you Brentai? Did it sell your spouse into slavery or something?

Wish I could find it, but they did a spectacular Halo 2 preview feature using all 8-bit art to recreate what they imagined the multiplayer battlefield would look like. I wished they'd run with the idea into later issues, but it still stands, in my mind, as the most creative way I've ever seen to comment on game content that didn't yet exist beyond the handful of screen shots available.

Ah, found it!

There was more, but I can't find the rest anywhere on the 'webs.

Artist's name is EBoy, and the group's done some really impressive work over the years. Worth checking out, just steer clear of the hilariously cocky forty-dollar eboy t-shirts.

So that leaves, what, GamePro left out of the old guard?

Not no more.

Sucks that people are losing their jobs, but I can't really bring myself to mourn GP.  Was it ever actually, you know, good?

It's all been downhill since GamePlayers was discontinued anyway.

Maybe not good, but definitely a pillar of my childhood.  It's never easy to watch one of those crumble, no matter how old you get.
