You know, it's kind of awesome to consistently be the best player on the losing team, especially for a guy who plays like twice a month. However, I have to admit some of the appeal is lost after a dozen rounds or so.

Sometimes I'm worried I might be playing Personal Glory Fortress 2, but then I remember that I don't quite know how to do that. Hmm.

Hey, I'm not blaming anyone.

Except the people on my team who happen to be stooges.

D-Iiiiii mean everyone's giving it their best shot, so I can't complain.

I like that the mere presence of a Dead Ringer on either team is enough to generate cries of damnation at me nowadays.

as an eyelander demo dead ringers are now the best thing in the world because you get an instant speedhealth boost from them and then sometimes they pop immediately and you get another one!

Does it actually increase your headcount or just pretend to increase your headcount?

I don't think so... I mean you get legit Dominations etc. from DR kills, so why would that be any different?

I thought so too, back when I was 'dominating' Niku while he was DRing.  I then checked the scoreboard and I didn't actually have the domination.

Quote from: TF2 wiki
The Spy immediately cloaks, and fake corpse is created, along with fake death messages. It can also 'fake' dominations, revenges, HLstatsX messages and even achievements.

For all my uncharacteristic complaining, the regulars are basically a-1*, at least a couple of the pubbies had some idea of what they were doing, and if losing really pissed me off so bad I would have teamswitched (though that's not really in my nature). There's no way I'm not getting better faster carrying the scrappy ragtag bunch on my shoulders than being rank-and-file in the Steamroll Army.

*: Envy, you are doing pretty good, but unless you got something specific in mind it might be a good idea not to have the equalizer on during setup so you can get overhealed. Though maybe I'm just saying that because it bugs me when someone on my team isn't glowing.

I was so wiped out last night it wasn't even funny. The only thing of note I did was taunt kill charging niku with my sword.

I'll have you know that the Steamroll Army works no less harder than you do.

I actually had a recent jump in skill, about the same time that the Demo/Soldier patch hit and they introduced new "Advanced Multiplayer" options. Now, I went to the Advanced Menu to toggle on and try the new enhanced Medic Tracking stuff, but I found something else there.

"Display Damage Done as Text Over Target."

Holy Balls. It sounds silly, but Holy Balls. This has turned my use of hit-scan weapons and my general overall tactical management completely into overdrive.
Yes, I've played this game for at least four years trusting entirely that my hits must be registering on blind faith.
Not guessing whether or not my Heavy's bullets are missing at a distance mode.

Not guessing whether or not that guy's latency is putting him half a step in front of or behind my led rifle shots mode.

Not hoping to hear the enemy yelp or see a splatter of blood to tell whether or not my stream of needles is being led correctly mode.

Not hoping my revolver shots are connecting oh he killed me with 90% health mode.

Oh man, that was amazing.  On KoTH Moonshine, Joxam was in his spawn area near the door.  I see someone retreat through the door and see Joxam standing still on the other side.  I TARGECHARGE right into the door, straight into Joxam, click to swing, hey where's my head.

Holy crap! I didn't even realize they implemented this.

So  it's not funny. Gauging range, knowing when to keep going or retreat, improving aim, all SO HUGE.

I know, I'm not saying it has a free ride. But I get more exp for killing a Red Dragon than for killing a dozen Slimes.
