I'm really more of a Black Pudding. Every time you hit me, I've just become a new threat.

Oh yeah, just turned on the damage indicator and it is spectacular. The blutsauger always had a similar flavor of feedback, but seeing it so extended is nice.

Believe it or not, I play so little that the Dead Ringer is actually still kind of new to me. I know how it works and I could tell what was happening, but I just don't have much hands-on experience dealing with the aftermath yet (as it must have been quite obvious). And if I had been on your team I wouldn't have learned anything new about it. I'm still bumbling around in that regard, but I think I got you at least once, so there's something I must have picked up on in between all the knife-whuppings.

In other news I am still mystified as to how I got Enemy at the Gate in turbine.

The best way to take care of a Dead Ringer spy is as soon as you kill them, turn toward the nearest metal pickup.  More often than not they'll immediately uncloak and refill their meter for a shot at killing you / making you think they're dead, but by killing them a second time you force them to either take action against you with no watch refill or to move on to a better opportunity.  Either way, you've neutralized them for the moment even if you haven't outright killed them.

Of course a bold spy will then just revolver the shit out of you, but c'mon, this is 101.  You gotta swim before you can dive.

Yeah, the immediate uncloak-step onto metal-watch is already reprimed is Master Tier Dead Ringery. I think my record is 20 Triggers in one life. The all-talk paranoia was hilarious.

Also, don't forget the old standby: Fire, and lots of it.

Disguised Spies can see the HP of Enemy Players was probably the second best buff they ever got, after a tie between Instant Back-Stab and the Dead Ringer itself.

Yeah, no doubt, but I got all the pyro unlocks long ago, so there's less incentive to play him right now, plus there's like a billion targe demos around. I still need all the scout stuff, all the spy stuff, all the soldier stuff, all the demo stuff, and I'm technically working for the Razorback (even though I don't really want it; it's an excuse to pick the sniper because I've rediscovered my love for him while playing some randoms yesterday).

Targe demos are great as a pyro. Flare them from a distance then switch to flamethrower and wait, they charge at you, you keep circle strafing and shooting flames at them.
They die, and if you are better than me, you don't hurt at all.

Huh, I thought the fire resistance was a bigger deal than it really is, then. Nice!

Well, they take longer to die than most classes, true. But not so much so that being a pyro is a chore. It just takes an extra few seconds to bring them down.
They charge at you, miss, swing the sword a few times, then fall over.
Then you move on to the next demo.

The compression blast seems like it'd be useful against them as well.

airblasting targe demomen is pretty much the best way to deal with them as a pyro.  puff, poof, axetinguish.

Honestly melee in GENERAL is a good way to deal with them, since they have no melee protection at all.  Sure they have a bigger swing than you, but one crit will knock them the fuck out just as well as it will anyone else.

Also nothing in this update feels as good as Targe-sniping.  Nothing.  By which I mean say, enemy team is making a push, you charge right past three attackers and into their medic to lop off his head before they can turn their attentions to you .. at which point they turn their attentions to you and hopefully your team is going HEY DELICIOUS BACKS BEING TURNED

You had me agreeing at "targe-sniping", though at first I thought you meant it in the sense of "putting an arrow in the head of charging demo like you'd coach-gun a Serious Sam werebull in the face". :8D:

Phew, a completely awful night, but in spite of that I'm one achievement away from the buff banner and I got the scottish resistance as a random drop (first time I ever got an actual random drop that was useful that I didn't have!).
