nic_wic's voice just gets irritating really fast.  Also I got dragged to the tf2chan server and played a map called cp_ohho I think. Everything is like instant death rooms if ou dont know it while being upside down. Crazy Fun.

I generally refrain from speech even though typing takes so much more effort. The thing is with typing I don't have to worry about my microphone being too close to my mouth or anything, and also I dislike the sound of my voice.

His problem is is that he commentates on every single death and kill of his. Which is annoying and completely unnecessary.

He would just be a good reason to have a votemute around. When it comes down to it though, he does actually do pretty decently a good amount of the time.

Doom you should start playing again just so there will be a greater Bronto-to-pubbie ratio.

Is it so much to ask that I be able to build a sentry that kills more than one person before being taken out? Is it so much to fucking ask? Exactly what am I doing wrong? Am I building them in places where they're too exposed (no)? Are there too many enemies nearby when I drop them (no)? Am I failing to get them upgraded in time (no)? Does the enemy team consist of a disproportionate number of Spies, Demomen, and Soldiers (no)?

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG

Tonight was the most fun I've ever had playing Team Fortress 2. Then the drunk people left and I could tell the night was just about over. Before that, though...

Good stuff.

@Bongobill:  Don't care about how many kills your sentries get.  Just be persistent.  If it explodes, build another one.  As long as you keep moving, you can manage to grab tons of metal and building them ends up being hella cheap.  Persistence is key.

Yeah, also keep in mind you're playing the most abused class short of Heavy, on a server where everyone and their brother is extremely well-versed in sentry-killin'.

My usual rhythm is: Plant sentry -> Build it up a bit -> Get shot -> Sentry dies -> Enemy team captures next objective -> I respawn. Maybe the problem was that I was playing on a horribly outmatched team.

That it Constantine I'm breaking up with you

Edit for Bongo: For an example, last round on Gorge Makaris and Yeoz did that roof sentry thing. I destroyed them.

over

and

over again.

And we still lost. The pressure they put up with those, even as a distraction, gave them a win.

Except they're not even a distraction. They accomplish nothing. One person takes five to ten seconds out of their life to kill it, while the rest of the team just humps the payload, and they've passed the point where I had built it by the time I respawn. Not even a speed bump. Time and again, all it accomplishes is killing somebody who rushes out ahead on their own without paying attention, and then the next person to come around the corner takes it out without even slowing down. No teammate is there to kill them while their attention is divided. If they take any damage at all, it's healed before they get in an actual fight.

If I could distract them over and over again with new sentries dropped in the same location, or a variety of locations, that'd be something different. That'd be accomplishing something. But nothing I built was applying even that low amount of pressure.

I've been on the opposite side of the situation many times, but I also still run into actually troublesome sentries on occasion.

That one sentry in the last stage of gold rush by the second point was pretty good, the one you built under the usual spot for them that has ammo and health. I was actually spamming grenades or rockets into the usual spot and your sentry actually killed me. The guy who actually destroyed it even congratulated you for it.
