you do realize you can upgrade an entrance or exit to level 3 before you plant the other end
The thing with this is that it is much, much harder to cleanly sneak back to plant the teleporter if you don't do it well before the current point is in danger.

No one but Scoutbal or other people with a lot of engineer experience will routinely check for the traditional behind-B exit from the start of the round, and if they do it is still taking them away from defense of the current point, but you don't have a prayer if A is almost down and the entire Red team is starting to rush B.

The real trick is pre-setting C and D when respective B and C are at 90% cap.  C requires you to have the balls to drop it on the walkway with the health pack between the two red spawn exits, D requires you to single handedly control the room between A and E.  There are two paths to every point, sometimes three, but most players will only use the short road.

Okay, guys, if you're confused about Steel, do this. Load up TF2, click "CREATE SERVER"

Change the map to Steel.

Run around.

Alternatively: open console, type "map cp_steel" and just go.

Favorite event from the night:  BLU team is capping the last point on Steel, and everyone is talking about how "Nothing could possibly go wrong now!"  But then, suddenly, what's this?  Why, Saxton Hale, ROCKET SOLDIER, landing on the scene!  He expertly fires some blasts at the enemy, killing DAYMAN before... he falls into the pit comically.

This was basically most of last night no matter which team you were on, there were a lot of Pyros. Fun times.

Which reminds me of a pretty fun encounter with Pyro Brentai on Steel E, basically as soon as we both were in range we started trying to poof each other into the pit instead of burning one another,  I was lucky enough to land in the little ledge under E, but Brentai had no such luck.

Oh.  I was wondering why I saw you fall with me but never saw your death on the ticker.

Not shown in the above picture: LD and I mutually burning each other on top of that, resulting in a five-corpse pyroup.

Let me tell you a story about defending Steel's C-to-D as Spy.

I disguise myself and begin to cut through the lost C, cloaked. A red team pyro comes up the stairs: for the fuck of it, I decloak and shoot three times at his back. Maybe two hit, he's still alive, whatever. He keeps going.. as a second red team pyro comes up the stairs, run pasts my uncloaked, undisguised, visibly and audibly firing ass and follows his friend.

I shoot him two-three times and cloak.

At this point they realize something may be up, do 180s, but keep moving towards D. They camp the C-To-D health pack for a moment, giving me time to shadow-back-stab the very first pyro as his friend wonders whatever could have caused that.

And Lady Duke wonders why everybody makes fun of her for being a dedicated pyro... at least to her credit, she wasn't either of the goons in this story. And she's a good pyro besides.
