i like when doom instant spectate-switches to get back on the color team he was just on, regardless of who is actually still on that team. :3
I know I don't go over it with everyone because I refuse to actually pretend that my imaginary honor matters to you guys, but I typically go "which team has the greatest mass of good regulars?" "which team has the guys who are playing dedicated medics?" "which team doesn't have the 0 point rifle snipers?" "where are my actual buds?" If Smiler and Niku are on the same team, I know it's a party. I don't actually like to kill Joxam.
I like fighting McDohl because he's fucking hilarious when he's mad.
Anyway, my only problems with the scrambler are a.) scrambling on stage three of payload maps b.) ADMINS FUCKING SCRAMBLING MID-ROUND STOP CRYING INTO YOUR BEER ZARA
And this is why I don't believe in imaginary honor and only care as far as I can try to associate myself with people I love(assume I like you all.) Because at the end of the night, you guys who bitch about me are no better: as soon as you lose enough games, you ask "man, where's the scramble?" or you try to joke and cope "lawl teams, lawl stacking." Or you honestly rage-quit. Or you start my least favorite criticism in the world "WHY IS IT EVERYBODY ELSE'S FAULT." I can't find enough disrespect in my entire body for guys who scold their teams for lacking medics while they try to Targe-Tard for the entire night.
Or if you're an admin, you just pull a Doom from the opposite end of the spectrum: I'm too good to cheese the spectator switch, so
I'll force everybody else to move. IF you've just done it once and realize it's a mistake, great, don't do it again. Anything else and you're lying to yourself. NO, YOU ARE THE DOOM.
I'm not saying you guys can't joke about it or sass me for it, but I think some of you need to take a look at yourselves. I laughed pretty fucking hard two nights ago: Gravel Pit starts. I ask Smiler to play with me cause we're buds. He says "play on my team." So I do. All of this occurs in the set-up minute. It's not like I'm the only Engineer on either team. I run around as a Demo and do kind of OK.
Somebody cracks "there's Doom being a Doom" and me and three other people tell him he's an idiot because the match just started and I've been on the same team since the gate opened. It's like I've got some sort of goofy, misguided fan club.
I have more fun when I win. I have a lot more fun when I'm providing support to a fluid, competent team. I try to limit my scolding of bad players to general, neutral advice lines. Most commonly "we don't need 3 snipers right now." I've been practically mute for two weeks. I never actually comment on, react to or say 95% of the things I'm thinking during a game.
So uh, bam. Just thought I'd belt that out.
Oh yeah. If you want me to treat you like a friend, maybe you should befriend me. And I don't mean a Steam List.
