I am, however, a fan of "You won the round in less than a minute have a scramble".  That's usually a necessary scramble.

That is easily the best scramble

you could use the custom maps that link all the parts together into one huge thing.

That would be a really bad idea, because it inherently messes up with the balance of the maps by removing setup time. Mostly thinking of goldrush and payload race maps.

Yeah I was merely saying "here is one option that has been tried." The other option looks better for a multitude of reasons.

Most maps have 3 stages max anyway, so I still stand by the 3 rolls minimum for scramble.

Would it be worth it to have set teams going in? Like "you lot generally go on RED, and you lot generally go on BLU." Pubbies and non-regulars can fill in additional slots (and occasionally someone on RED might have to go on BLU or vice versa), and this way we could keep teams mostly balanced manually while still allowing a team to get used to working together in the long run. Some people like to switch around a lot, though, so they might not like this idea.

i like when doom instant spectate-switches to get back on the color team he was just on, regardless of who is actually still on that team.  :3

I know I don't go over it with everyone because I refuse to actually pretend that my imaginary honor matters to you guys, but I typically go "which team has the greatest mass of good regulars?" "which team has the guys who are playing dedicated medics?" "which team doesn't have the 0 point rifle snipers?" "where are my actual buds?" If Smiler and Niku are on the same team, I know it's a party. I don't actually like to kill Joxam.

I like fighting McDohl because he's fucking hilarious when he's mad.

Quote
Anyway, my only problems with the scrambler are a.) scrambling on stage three of payload maps b.) ADMINS FUCKING SCRAMBLING MID-ROUND STOP CRYING INTO YOUR BEER ZARA

And this is why I don't believe in imaginary honor and only care as far as I can try to associate myself with people I love(assume I like you all.) Because at the end of the night, you guys who bitch about me are no better: as soon as you lose enough games, you ask "man, where's the scramble?" or you try to joke and cope "lawl teams, lawl stacking." Or you honestly rage-quit. Or you start my least favorite criticism in the world "WHY IS IT EVERYBODY ELSE'S FAULT." I can't find enough disrespect in my entire body for guys who scold their teams for lacking medics while they try to Targe-Tard for the entire night.

Or if you're an admin, you just pull a Doom from the opposite end of the spectrum: I'm too good to cheese the spectator switch, so I'll force everybody else to move. IF you've just done it once and realize it's a mistake, great, don't do it again. Anything else and you're lying to yourself. NO, YOU ARE THE DOOM.

I'm not saying you guys can't joke about it or sass me for it, but I think some of you need to take a look at yourselves. I laughed pretty fucking hard two nights ago: Gravel Pit starts. I ask Smiler to play with me cause we're buds. He says "play on my team." So I do. All of this occurs in the set-up minute. It's not like I'm the only Engineer on either team. I run around as a Demo and do kind of OK.

Somebody cracks "there's Doom being a Doom" and me and three other people tell him he's an idiot because the match just started and I've been on the same team since the gate opened. It's like I've got some sort of goofy, misguided fan club.

I have more fun when I win. I have a lot more fun when I'm providing support to a fluid, competent team. I try to limit my scolding of bad players to general, neutral advice lines. Most commonly "we don't need 3 snipers right now." I've been practically mute for two weeks. I never actually comment on, react to or say 95% of the things I'm thinking during a game.

So uh, bam. Just thought I'd belt that out.

Oh yeah. If you want me to treat you like a friend, maybe you should befriend me. And I don't mean a Steam List.

I have no problem with Doom flipping around to whatever team he wants. The only problem I have with Doom is that he always gets me. But that's just the way things work and it really isn't anything to rage over.

The only thing I will tell you, but I think you already know how I feel about it, is that I am and will always be perfectly fine with stacking against the common enemy (pubbies). However, when there are only three people on a full server not from here, or the 'regular pubbies' we now seem to have, it DOES piss me off to see you still team stacking to win.

Basically, team stacking to beat up the pubbies, I don't care. But team stacking to roll over your friends (Maybe I use that word to lightly, maybe we aren't your friends) is just mean.

*Note, I shouldn't be talking to JUST doom about his 'problems'.

I could be making this kind of post to any number of people for any number of reasons just by changing a few key words around. I get, literally, dozens of Steam whispers while we're playing TF2 (almost every night) with people expecting me to change whatever problems they're having at any given time. Examples being McDohl bitching, Smiler being Doom 2.0 WHILE complaining about doom, Niku being a 'huge dick' (that one has largely stopped in the last week or so, basically I think its more to do with his voice and less his actions. Niku always sounds like he hates YOU**, apparently)

** YOU = anyone he's talking to

Okay, and now, in a different post to 'start fresh'. Basically, I think everyone just needs to take a step back and try and enjoy the fucking game again. Shit man, its TF2, not elective surgery (unless doom is a medic)

I don't take small number games so seriously that I want to win but I don't really tolerate anti-fun either. I can't really justify it but I don't really want to accept that having unfun is a good idea. I've recently been trying to just watch the server after somebody posts a TF2 time and join around 5v5.

like I said the enemy is within

guess what guys

no matter what, I will be actively killing half of the server at any given moment

anyways

I led a Pyro, Medic and Soldier around the same loop three times on Steel tonight. I used my DR five times and escaped while on fire twice.

They lost B, needless to say. And then two of them rage-quit.

Guys I love playing this game why can't you love playing this game.

The BIG problem here, on both sides of the fence, is that everyone LOVES winning at tf2.

For my part, its not the dying that gets me going, its the dying while being made fun of, its the dying while everyone is bitching about dying... hell, sometimes its JUST the bitching.

Everyone here, in some way, is at fault for being a POOR TEAM PLAYER, as far as moral goes. I remember, a few weeks back, you specifically going on like a ten minute rant (and then bringing it up again the next time we played also) that no one on your team was spy checking. Ok, fine. No one is spy checking. Shut up about it or change it. Don't be part of the problem.

Hell, that mentality right there is half of what makes the GOOD players the good players. How many times has doom or niku or patito switched to Demoman to knock out a sentry nest, or switched to engie to protect our base on defense?

Ok, fine. No one is spy checking. Shut up about it or change it. Don't be part of the problem.

I spent that entire rant running around as a Pyro trying to kill Doom. During the rant Doom was still backstabbing people as they walked out of the spawn because they are mysteriously deaf to the Dead Ringer noise and argararrgaghar

Okay, off topic. I understand your point - I think the problem here is that we're all getting mad at each other about a bunch of dumb shit that a bunch of pubbies do, i.e not spychecking and then ragequitting at the apex of a round because they are being dominated, or wondering how our four snipers haven't managed to kill a sentry, or somehow voting to play goddamn Hoodoo for fuck's sake I hate Hoodoo so god damn much it is such a boring shitty map and yet we still manage to vote for it fucking somehow and

Off topic again. Point is pubbies are the enemy.

When I'm feeling dickish and somebody asks if the team can get some class I'll say "to get a [whatever] type ',' and then [whatever number]." They stop talking after that. I have yet to get this irritated on Shadow Moses, but I haven't been playing as much as I'd like to lately.

Edit: I've decided also that I would be a slightly greater asset if I began using my mic. I'll start that up next time I play.
