Spy really clicked with me tonight. I topped the scoreboard and broke 100 points without even being a soldier! Hell even one of the pubbies thought I mained spy.

I wish I didn't have to eat food and deal with people and then I would not miss the one time a month that we play Frontier.

Oh yeah, it's nice that spies now have NO COUNTER CLASS.

The fire still reveals the spy, if nothing else.

I agree with the first reply. That's why they made the homewrecker!

Except the pyro will never get close the the sentry because as soon as the sentry starts shooting, the pyro can't get close. So yeah, homewrecker is still shitty and so is the pyro.

They kinda need to go back to their original design philosophy with the Pyro.  He should be a close range DPS beast.  People should fear letting the Pyro get close.  Fire should be a Bad Thing rather than UberJuice.

I've yet to run into that problem, but only because medics are ubering more useful targets than engies.

The problem seems to be that the most vocal portion of the player base is the portion that says pyro is for noobs who just want to W+M1 and now that that's been broken they're all going to bawww forever.

Somehow, Valve has let this attitude affect how they make updates.

Edit: I almost wish I was playing this on xbox so that Valve wouldn't have so many opportunities to fuck everything up.

Except, I'm pretty sure at release the flamethrower also did really small amounts of damage until they buffed it at the pyro update. Just that the afterburn was much more useful.

Edit: He also didn't even have airblast, so he was basically todays pyro with no airblast and slightly better afterburn.

Last time I played, a team of pyros could W+M1 down the field pretty much with impunity.  I don't disagree with a slight nerf.

The -20% is pretty ridiculous, though.  I've been playing again out of curiosity and yeah, as a Heavy I could basically stand around taking a shower of flames for as long as it took to spin up my gun and still lumber away with more than half health.  Ambush Pyro does absolutely fuckall.

I always thought of Pyro as basically a visible spy.  If you let him get close to you, you fucking deserve to melt to death.  If it were up to me, I'd give him his rape DPS back, but lower his health so he can't just suicide blitz up to people.  Give Backburner its +50 HP back if you're really serious about trying to actually balance weapons.

Pyro could never suicide blitz people.  He would die against any half way competent player because they can either over power him or, at the very least, weapon heckle him.

The point is that regardless of the past, many classes are much more lethal than they ever were before. Release-day Pyro didn't have to contend with DR Spies, now-buffed Heavies, Direct Hit Soldiers, Targe flame damage reduction, or any number of other things, to say nothing of the fact that Pyro was once considered among the more mobile classes, but is now nearer to the bottom of the pack, thanks to unlocks such as the Gunboats.

By the way Torgo: Delete your Steam.dll file. It'll force a re-download of the file, which should solve the problem. There have been a lot of updates that are randomly corrupting the Steam.dll file

The gunboats are worthless.  I would say the Pyro's apparent lack of mobility is more due to people figuring out better and better ways to Rocket Jump and Sticky Jump... I'm not even sure if the designers had even considered Sticky Jumping when they designed the Demo.
