And in the uncouth wilds of Canuckistan, even something as simple as "corn meal, oil, egg, milk, bake" is beyond their feeble comprehension.

Do you understand how terrifying the words “vibrating strap on” are for an asexual? That’s like saying “the holocaust” to a Jew.

In the south, YOU DO NOT BUY CORN BREAD, YOU MAKE IT.

Neither you nor I live in the south.

And in the uncouth wilds of Canuckistan, even something as simple as "corn meal, oil, egg, milk, bake" is beyond their feeble comprehension.

The same advice applies if the store is out of wheat bread, only substituting a recipe of "flour, yeast, salt, water, bake" but that doesn't make the situation any less silly.

EDIT: Also, nobody had any corn meal either. I'm not kidding.

Mongrel, my point is, I'm from the south, and the only time you buy corn bread while out is when you're eating out. Hell. I'm from as far South as you can fuckin' get, man. To clarify, what I mean is, north or south, I have never seen corn bread (aside from muffins at some bakeries) just for sale in stores.

Yes, I know that in a places where [culinary item] is sacred, you are expected to make it fresh. You can't buy bernaise in jars in France either (of course, buying prepackaged bernaise in a jar IS a terrible idea).

The point is that in our wonderful/horrible prepacked no-time-for-anything world, one of the small upsides is the availability of pretty much ANYTHING premade at the local grocery store. At least if you live in a large town. Which I do. Total unavailability of a very simple and commonly consumed item just seems... weird.

They used to sell it here - in quite a few places. I clearly recall that. Which in a way makes it odder.

Even if you could buy it, why would you want to?

For the same reason all sub-par processed food sells: No time to make it.

Oh please. Saying you can't find cornmeal is like saying you can't find flour.

Because they're right next to each other.

In the baking aisle.

Yeah, I looked there. Mostly out of a curious frustration ("Do they even have cornmeal?!", not because I was going to get cornmeal and bake the stuff.

True, I only looked for that in the last two or three grocery stores I went to, but those were the largest ones.

Southern water tribe?

Even if you could buy it, why would you want to?
Because King Kullen cornbread is basically spongy butter dyed yellow and it is delicious.

So I can't go to University this year, my best friend offered me a job in Toronto, and Mongrel's roommate is moving out.

I wish I could read the signs...

Are you asking? Because my brother turned down the option so he could continue to humor my insane and non-functional parents, so the room's still open.

Well, it depends on a lot of things. How much it costs / the cost of living in Toronto, for one.

So I'm spending some of my spare time looking around for decent places to hunt Turkey, and so far I have been dry.  The twist is when I come to the range this morning, and I see a good dozen of them at the two hundred yard mark.

The irony here is that despite one of the few places where weapons are commonplace and the norm, it is the safest place they could possibly be, those bastards...

What, in your opinion, is the most challenging hunting weapon, SCD?

It depends entirely on what you're hunting. Small game is usually easiest with shot weapons and large game is best with slug weapons. I would go with bow as hardest normal hunting weapon, but obviously spear or something like that would be harder.
