I was driving my brother home tonight, and we were coming up on the street with the annoying left turn (because there's no stop light), but it was late enough that I wasn't worried about having to wait forever for a chance to turn. Just as I was about to reach the stop sign, a car pulled out of one of metered spaces on the side of the road right in front of me. This was a little annoying, because I had to slow down much faster than I intended to, but I reasoned that the driver just didn't see me and decided to let it slide.

Then when the car got to the stop sign, instead of turning left or right or going straight, its hazard lights started blinking. Taking this to mean "I probably won't be going anywhere any time soon," I decided to just go to the next street over, which does have a stop light. Kind of frustrating, but still not really a big deal.

So I start backing up slowly, intending to pull into a driveway or parking lot or something and turn around to go around the block, but before I can the car goes in to reverse and speeds past me, narrowly threading between me and two pedestrians in the process. It comes to a stop before hitting another car that's coming down toward the stop sign.

Instead of waiting around to find out what the heck, I decide this is my chance to make my left turn, but as we're driving home my brother and I start to find this more strange and bewildering the more we talk about it. By the time we arrive home we both agree that we're glad I had a passenger with me to witness it.

Combine incidents like that (which I've seen more than my fair share of) with today the guy in the bitch seat of a motorcycle yelling "Hey! HEY!" at me before flipping me off and yelling "FUCK YOU" a bunch of times and you quickly realize why I think humans are psychopathic monsters unfit for driving several thousand pound machines.

Why no, I will not be adopting cats from an adoption agency that asks for payment in cash to the cat foster home. SKETCHY.

Finally transferred some credits from my community college to my current university, including a credit for a Ceramics II class. Which is amazing, as I never took Ceramics II. Or Ceramics I, for that matter.

I overheard a guy talking on his cellphone, and as I listened, I realized that the girl he was talking to was sitting a few seats ahead.

Neither of them were aware of this fact until I pointed it out to him.

A friend of mine was on the front page of the paper today (his deranged ex-wife who nearly killed their kid was released from jail). I knew about the circumstances a long time ago, but it still just feels kind of odd.

The moment I get to the Arizona state line, it rains on me.

I swear this is the wettest state I've ever been in.

You'd think Thad would gripe about it, but he probably never notices the weather anymore.

Up north is fairly moist, but Phoenix is an arid pit.

According to deodorant commercials, arid pits are crucial.

That's the weirdest damn spelling of "in a 30-year drought and frequently on fire" I've ever seen.

112 today.

Brent, you may want to look into the possibility that whoever invited you out here is your arch-nemesis luring you into a trap.

Stay safe, stay hydrated, and we'll grab some diuretics tomorrow.

Do you understand how terrifying the words “vibrating strap on” are for an asexual? That’s like saying “the holocaust” to a Jew.

All my nemeses are from the desert too.  You'd think they'd know better.

But yeah I never cross the state border without an obscene amount of Gatorade on hand, so I'm really only worried about my family here.  The comments at the ceremony were pretty amusing though, basically amounting to "Wow, sorry about the timing."
