So SCD sends me a text this afternoon "So how did the fire thing go?"... right as the building is evacuated due to a fire alarm.

Actually, I have sort had that kind of feeling while awake... any of you ever suddenly feel like you're gigantic and that the ends of your limbs are miles away? I don't mean while stoned or anything, it can just happen while you're sitting around.

I always just figured it was some kind of brain quirk, like déja vu or similar. It's kind of a neat feeling... I try to savour it while it happens.

Used to have the opposite when i was very young and had a fever. I would hallucinate that i was becoming smaller and smaller, and the room felt as enormous as anything, as though i would never be able to reach the walls if i walked my whole life. A very amazing/terrifying sensation, like being in that "powers of ten" video in real life.

I get that all the time when I'm falling asleep or it's very dark.

I always get the feeling of rocking back and forth.
Of course, some of it is because of my heart being crazy, but I think a good chunk of it is mental.

When it's dark, I have the sensation of Spiraling.

Like that, only more disorienting.

I always get the feeling of rocking back and forth.

I get that too. I think it's caused by blood pumping.

Today the snowflakes were falling slowly and softly, with just a few in the air.

But these were the biggest snowflakes I've ever seen, at least a quarter-inch. You could actually see all the little beautiful details without even really trying.

Very very cool.

So my downstairs neighbor has a plastic baggie taped to her door.  Inside it?  One half eaten piece of bacon.

As I recall from college movies, hanging a necktie on the door means you're having sex with someone. I'm not sure I want to decode bacon-in-a-baggie.

She's an elderly wheelchair bound woman... if that helps.

Isn't "bacon strip" a Strangers With Candy euphemism for the labia?

I won't lie; every time I am freshly waxed I can't help but think of her saying "my bacon strips are sizzlin'!"

Something new to add to the odd list of "seemingly totally ordinary things which can't be found in Toronto": Corn Bread (wtf?). Tried all large grocery stores and quite a few indie bakeries without success. Just odd. I haven't tried Whole Foods yet, but that's about it.

It got a bit weirder. Unable to find cornbread for love, money, or murder, I picked up a pizza bread-like loaf with some tasty jalapenos baked in it as a substitute. In addition to the onion, jalapeno, cheese, tomato, there was a half a chocolate cookies baked inside (from what I can tell someone didn't clean out the oven quite enough).

Mongrel... you do not buy cornbread. You make it.

Sometimes you do and sometimes you don't.

Also, yes, we're not the US, but cornbread is perfectly available in almost every single US grocery store I've been in - most of which were in Northern states.

I don't think corn bread is that weird or exotic an item that you can only get by making it yourself or traveling to foreign countries. If I lived in St. Catharines ass-nowhere, I would understand, but not in the heart of the largest, most cosmopolitan city in the country.
