Weird Happenings
« on: February 14, 2009, 08:18:46 PM »

I don't know where to put this, but today I went to put my laundry in the coin washers we have at our apartment complex.  I did this quite some time ago, around noon, and was just preoccupied until now when I went down realizing I'd better get them in the drier.

I found all my laundry sitting on top of the washer it had been in, dried, folded neatly, and sorted into two piles.  The socks were even rolled up in pairs.

Sometimes other people need to use the machines and will dump your shit out onto the nearby table in the laundry room if you leave your stuff there in their way for a while.  This, though, has never happened.  I just realized this means whoever did this even paid 50 cents for my laundry to dry.

It's obviously some random act of kindness, and I should be glad, but to be honest it's so unexpected I'm actually a bit unnerved.

Will the tiny robots fold my shirts like that again?  Because seriously, this is impressive in a freakish OCD sort of way.

That happened to me once. Then someone threw a load of my still-wet laundry onto the floor in front of the dryer, so I guess it balances out!

My sister and I used to do that all the time for people, as long as they weren't repeat offenders (which there were several).  It was a compromise between courtesy and practicality, because there were people in that place who would simply beat you if you took their clothes out of the dryer.

Note that this was mostly my sister's idea.  I'd have just thrown their shit on the floor and waited for the beatings.

I'd think twice before messing with someone who could light wet laundry on fire.

That's pretty hardcore.

In a laundry-folding sort of way.

Man, I don't know how many people's clothes I dried when I was living in the barracks back when I was in the Navy.  We had about 20 people to a floor, and 4 washing machines to go between us, and one was dodgy at best.  So we'd end up with overlaps of people wanting to do laundry, and nobody sat with it.  So, if a load was done in the washer, and I wanted to wash clothes, I'd take the load from the washer, set it on the table, go to the dryer, pile up the finished load in there on top, load the dryer with the wet load on the table, THEN load the washer with my load.

Was selling online _______, when a potential buyer inquired about the condition of a particular ______.

Name appeared familiar. Answered and further inquired. The reply was as surprised as my own.

MCE wanted to be my internet girlfriend once.  Cause I looked hot in one picture of me in cat ears once, I guess.  I told her I thought it was sort of an impractical idea and said no.  I don't really know why I did that, she's pretty cool.
