Employing said word properly would require true finesse.

and he's still doing the "I GUARANTEE things will magically fix themselves even though I have no working idea of how that could possibly happen" dance

:wat: We have a word for that now.

You know, during the whole Colbert conversation, I meant to note that Guild should love Colbert given that every single argument he has boils down to truthiness, but I never got around to it.

I love Colbert. If I told you why you'd just try harder to hate me. I don't want you to have a seizure.

The stronger you punch, the better the door. So there are like super strong murderers who punch people into Venetian doors and shit"

FCC to Comcast: You suck!

Wow, the FCC actually did something they're supposed to do, rather than trying to keep us from hearing about or viewing tits on network television.

DSL providers are popping corks on champagne bottles as we speak while their advertising agencies try to find the best way of saying "DSL: Once again as fast as cable!"

Please please please please please please please actually do this, Comcast.  If you prove that net inneutrality is actually pretty terrible for your bottom line, everybody will shut up about it.  Forever.

They probably won't prove that, as there is often no other local broadband ISP to switch to.  Worse still, if one company does it, another company might be emboldened to do so, and it may slowly become a new industry standard.  It's not like we can really get away with boycotting this kind of shit, either.

Oz to replicate the 'Great Firewall of China' on their own terms.

And you thought Net Neutrality was bad enough! Good christ, I hope no other countries get any bright ideas like this.

Australia, Australia, Australia, we love yah.

Only tangentially related to net neutrality, but, via CNet, the FCC has opened the "white space" portion of the broadcast spectrum for unlicensed use.

...Sigh.

A senator from my home state, god damn it introduces a bill to bar the FCC from implementing its net neutrality policies.

EDIT: whoops.  AMENDMENT to an existing bill that would prevent funding to allow the FCC to implement Net neutrality policies.

(THAD EDIT: changed spoiler tag to less-obnoxious 6-point text.  I think it provides a nice feeling that McDohl is muttering it under his breath!)

I wouldn't worry too much about that sort of thing passing right now.

Didn't the FCC all but come out in favour of proper Net Neutrality recently?

The rulings are firm enough that it's affecting the CRTC's recent decisions (the Canadian FCC).

Yes, very firmly, which is why the REDs* are trying to cut its funding.

Which I fully support of course.  Anything that further distances the GOP from the interests of any entity besides corporate ones is a step closer to a time when I won't have to listen to people bitch about them as if they were still relevant.

* How come I only just now noticed the cognitive dissonance of conservatives using the term "red" as a derogatory?

Well in the REST of the world, the Red party is usually the Liberal/Socialist party and Blue is used for Conservatives. You guys are just crazy.
