Comcast to exempt Xbox streaming video service from bandwidth cap.  In other news, we totally don't need net neutrality rules because no cable provider would ever grant preferential treatment to one site over another.

The loophole:

Quote
On its page announcing the new policy, Comcast claims that Xbox "content is being delivered over our private IP network and not the public Internet." Presumably, the cable giant would argue that this means its new policy does not raise network neutrality issues, since all traffic delivered over the "public Internet" is still treated equally.

So they're back to trying to sell net throttling and other abuses as a tiered system that won't diminish existing service?

"Free Speech" is rapidly becoming an Orwellian "Opposite day!" term.
