FUCK.

YES.

:victory:

I think that pretty much leaves Just a Guy Named Joe on my list of stories I would love to see adapted.
Best cover in comics history
, amirite?

I had trouble downloading this week's episode via the usual 4chan-linked rapidshare/megaupload/whatever due to my connection constantly disappearing, but this torrent downloaded surprisingly fast. Haven't watched it yet, I'm sick and going to bed.

I've always really liked Sandman.  Don't have a real reason, but I guess I'm generally a fan of the goopy shifting villains (I also rather like Clayface) and his whole generic goon attitude is just kind of a good fit amongst the other cackling supervillains.  So I pretty much fucking loved this episode.

Also genuinely laughed at
"With great power comes great" "gullibility."
I like Sandman because he's a vintage Ditko character -- down-to-earth and completely relatable, and also he has stripes in his hair.

Watched it, and yeah, some friggin' GREAT use of Sandman's powers.  Guess they figured that, biggest budget of any film in history or no, they couldn't let a live-action movie outdo a cartoon in special effects.
Good job making him sympathetic, too.
Other thoughts:

1. I liked the disjointed video, from
the opening shot where it appears that Peter's talking about Eddie, to the bits in the middle where it becomes clear everyone's talking about Flash, to the last shot where it IS Eddie
.
2. I laughed at the first
"big score"
ref, but it got old fast.
3. Spider-Man.  Hates.  FISH!

Torrent of latest ep available at torrent places.

Good stuff -- another cool fight location, some genuine pathos, and the bookend devices the last two eps have been employing have been pretty neat (and of course we know Weisman loves him some Shakespeare).

And one hell of a cliffhanger that I am hoping is Not a Dream, Not a Hoax, and Not An Imaginary Story.

I'm going to be sad if they ever run out of awesome places for superheroes to throw shit at each other.

Is it just me, or was Colonel Jupiter defeat just a little bit of a nod to Death of Superman?

Masterfully handled.  The "bookend" segments deserve another mention; it's great seeing so many different cast members react to the question (
"Am I being Punk'd?"
).  The resolution works nicely; of course it's integral that Peter Parker is the last person anyone would EXPECT to be Spider-Man.  Working in the
Flash-pretends-to-be-Spidey
story was a great touch too.

And of course it would have been a wasted opportunity if at least ONE character hadn't come away seriously suspecting that Venom had spoken the truth.  The one they went with wasn't the one I expected, but was pretty much the perfect choice.  And I wouldn't be surprised if
Norman
had his suspicions too.

Man, I love this show.  I think
Norman
clearly suspects, because of the way his eyes shifted and went through that look of a man contemplating.  This episode also setup a lot of stuff, as it seems
the symbiote went into the sewers to reproduce
.  I hope they follow up on these threads.  Of course, I also hope the show finds a new home so it can go on to season 3.

And don't forget the "No comment" people. They're smart enough to suspect something, and didn't want to say it.

Right, of course.  I'm quite interested to see how their story plays out from here.

You know, I never made it as far as
Captain Stacy's death
in the comics (my Marvel Masterworks Spidey collection ends at #40, and it doesn't appear that they actually make the damn things in paperback anymore), so I'd forgotten that
he revealed with his dying words that he knew Peter Parker was Spider-Man
.  So this is a nod to continuity, on top of the obvious
"So, uh, that guy kidnapped my daughter because you're in love with her, yeah, maybe you should keep that mask on"
bit.

Oh, and the Shakespeare refs were even better this week.  Not only did he put the "methinks" in the right place for that oft-misquoted line, but one for the older fans: we all knew who Flash was cast as without it having to be said.
Escaped symbiote + Cletus' prior glimpse = Carnage in a santa hat.
Pretty by-the-numbers MacGuffin plot this week, but some good character moments (and a hell of a lot of characters at that).  I'm getting to quite like George and hoping he doesn't get killed off for awhile.

This was my least favorite episode in a while, but that's still a compliment because of the overall high quality of this show, and especially this season.

My favorite part:
"How about we team up?" "BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Okay."
Yeah, that was a good bit even though it was pretty much the same as the "HAHAHAHA oh wait" from the Connorses last week.

So, uh, we got three new episodes last weekend. That was a surprise!

The best of 'em was the Valentine's Day one, but that's kind of obvious:
I'd rather watch all the gang lords duke it out to opera music instead of an after school special about the dangers of gambling and then turning into a fire mutant.
I'm still rationing them out one week at a time, so I've only gotten as far as Probable Cause.

Probable Cause was great as a Flash episode.  Flash is one of those characters who starts out as a flat cliche, and a deliberately unlikable one at that, but who starts to show nuance over time, and I love that about him.  This episode shows that he may well have the strongest moral compass of any character on the show, that he's willing to give up the most important thing in the world to him, something he's worked hard and sacrificed for, because it's the right thing to do.  THAT'S what makes Flash who he is, not his football trophies.  The audience sees that, and Sha Shan does too.

Of course, no good deed goes unpunished, and things are going to get rough for Harry again.

Nitpick: George Stacy's wide-eyed reaction to finding out Peter's alive doesn't jibe with the repeated implication that he knows Peter is Spider-Man.
