Downloading all the rest as well, but planning on continuing to ration it out one week at a time.  This way I get to make it last, and also I retain some time to catch up on all the other TV I am far behind on.  (Have not seen last 3 Stewarts/Colberts or last week's Office or 30 Rock, either.)  So continue to spoiler-tag.

Gangland: another good "big fight in a fun location" ep.  The Godfather-y opera bits were a nice touch.

Not much in the way of developing the story, but Flash's small part was a good one again.  Nice seeing his self-consciousness and his lack of understanding of the situation -- his appeal is his sincerity, and he kept asking for advice from a guy who was there with a girl he didn't really want to be with.

The "Who's the Goblin?" question arises once again -- could be Harry again, could be Norman this time.  Of course, you guys have probably wrapped the season by now and already know.

Incidentally, my copy is fucked up -- looks like the picture was stretched from 4x3 to 16x9 and then cropped back down to 4x3.  Possibly Nickelodeon's fault, as their logo in the corner does not look to have been stretched.  If anybody can direct me to a copy that doesn't make my eyes bleed and my heart cry, I'd appreciate it.

There's a great reaction image in the last episode that I keep forgetting to screencap at home.

Speaking of the last episode, it felt really rushed, almost like they forgot it was the end of the season. Still, lots of fun!

Yeah, wow, that was the season finale? I'd say this season peaked at Sandman.

So I downloaded and blasted through the whole first season of Spectacular Spider-Man. Best bit of dialog in the whole thing?

"So Gobby offered you the secret toy surprise too, eh? So, Trap?"
"Trap"
"Eh, I figured. Race you inside!"

I'm downloading season 2, now.

Finally caught up!

Re: general reactions to finale: I don't think it was rushed per se (though it crammed a hell of a lot of development into a single episode, both of the Goblin story and the Harry/Gwen/Petey/Liz love square), it's just that the whole season was all over the place.  The finale was a perfectly good capper, it's just that it didn't really have much of a coherent narrative to cap.

I really liked how they managed to keep the audience guessing on the "Who is the Goblin?" question.  My guess was pretty close to the truth,
though I was figuring "Norman" for a Mysterio-bot rather than Chameleon
.  I was hoping for the Goblin to turn out to be just some random dude we'd never heard of like Ditko always wanted,
but of course no such luck
.

Nice twist on the ending of the first movie.  And on the square: interesting seeing Harry turn out to be a manipulative bastard
even though he isn't actually the Goblin
, the Parker Luck is in full swing, and I loved MJ speckling the Fourth Wall.

I stand by my earlier assertions that Flash and George were really the standouts of this season.

I think my favorite episode of season 2 overall may have been the "Venom tells everyone Peter is Spider-Man" one.  Really I think the biggest developments were the number of peopl who actually believed him.

Oh, and
the Connerseses going off to Florida
is a nice bit of continuity too.

All in all, I think the first season was stronger, but 2 was pretty great too and I'm really hoping it gets picked up for another -- but only if Weisman continues to helm it.

Complete First Season is out on DVD.  Want to see a third season?  Buy this.  Buy extra copies and give them away as gifts.  Tell your friends.  Tell your enemies.

Mine's ordered.  How'bout you?

It has potential at least:

...but "Ultimate Spider-Man" writer Brian Michael Bendis announced on Twitter that he is not involved with the project — not at the moment, at least.
