[02:15]   <Esperath>   Iron anvil is much more reasonably priced
[02:15]   <Esperath>   as are the picks and battle axes
[02:16]   <Esperath>   hmm, all food appears to be 2p now

Server's getting hammered pretty hard. I wanted to generate a custom world, but I can't get the DF forums to resolve so that I can check my recipe book thread.

[02:21]   <Esperath>   the starting build gives you a bunch of spurious wooden shit
[02:21]   <Esperath>   fuck you, if I need a splint I'll carve one out of a goblin's bone
[02:22]   <Esperath>   but yeah, iron anvil is only 100 to start
[02:22]   <Esperath>   that is definitely a worthwhile bring
[02:22]   <Newbie>   No kidding.
[02:22]   <Esperath>   and fuck, the copper picks are 44 and battle axes 68 a piece
[02:23]   <Esperath>   which reduces my desire to do the 'seven pick' build
[02:23]   <Esperath>   but I hear that fitness and whatnot are totally revamped now
[02:23]   <Esperath>   so maybe that strategy won't work to build a starting crew of superdorfs
[02:24]   <Esperath>   nice that I can do 2cat without catsplosioning immediately
[02:24]   <Esperath>   it is nice to have them around for pest control
[02:24]   <Esperath>   though who even knows if catsplosion is a problem anymore
[02:24]   <Esperath>   ...
[02:24]   <Esperath>   let me look at metal bar prices
[02:25]   <Esperath>   I wouldn't be surprised if it's cost efficient to immediately drop a metalsmith and build your own tools
[02:25]   <Esperath>   copper bars are 10p
[02:25]   <Newbie>   Fuck yes "The Universe of Prophecies" has been created!
[02:25]   <Esperath>   with anvils at 100p
[02:26]   <Esperath>   this is a no-brainer
[02:26]   <Esperath>   just bring along enough wood at 3p a piece to fire up the metalsmith long enough to make an axe and some picks

Switched over to an 8x8 font and am now displaying 160x100 grid size.

I think this may be information overload.

Quote from: new shit log
Dwarves won't immediately drop everything if they find themselves hungry or tired, and will try to finish their current job first.

Maybe in another two years adventure mode will get a similarly awesome revamp. And maybe by then I'll have a gig of RAM!

Yeah, my default build included 15 prepared horse brains. Looks like all of the entrail bits are 2p meats.

My fort's randomly generated name was "Daggerrazors".

This is gonna be good.

So far, the major difficulty in Fortress Mode is the fact that farming may or may not be bugged: dirt and sand that's underground has to be mud before you can farm there. Some mud's naturally occurring, but most of the stuff you'll excavate near the surface isn't. There's also some question about whether seeds are being listed as unavailable when you actually have some with you.

I abandoned my first fort after growing impatient with my solitary miner, who wouldn't mine more than one tile at a time without taking a break in her room and then in the dining room and then back in her room. Maybe I needed to have a doctor look at her or something, but her thoughts and feelings didn't indicate any sort of unhappiness or injury; she just decided she wanted to spend most of her time standing around with No Job listed as her current task.

Put together a crack team of suicide diggers to excavate a pit into the very bowels of hell itself, only to be distracted by a cluster of bat people in the first cave I dug into. Rather than tunnelling around like I should have, I decided to conscript everybody and send them against the foe—still under the old version's doctrine that miners make good soldiers.

Looking at the combat reports as they're coming in; I'm not sure my team's gonna make it.

I'm sure they'll be fine. A spear sticking out of one's head is never a huge cause for alarm.

The twisting however? Yikes.

O no, don't worry. Supposedly the damage won't continue to increase forever.

I noticed that there is a seperate, levelable skill for biting.  You can start a Dwarf with advanced biting skill.  Your Dwarf can become a legendary biter.

Unfortunately, I believe that skill is more useful for creatures that eat Dwarves.

I've been reading some stories on 4chan and encountered this:

Quote
I enountered a Forgotten beast.

Was a spider made out of steel, it had 3 eyes made of chocolate. The spider was hollow, and had vomit inside the metal casing. Also had four bird wings with orange feathers.

Wiped my fortress before I could dig to the magma sea, he did.

sweet jesus that's terrifying... chocolate eyes...
