Details are being announced 4/15, Dohl. They're not being released, then.

Fly's weak on Pikachu. It's a physical attack and Pikachu has a weak Attack stat. It's useful to have a Flying attack versus Grass opponents but the opponent can always switch out.

Actually, Pikachu has a base attack of 55 and a base sp. attack of 50.

Also, the Light Ball doubles both the Attack and Sp. Attack stats for Pikachu (but not Raichu), so a base attack of 110 ain't too bad.

Raichu's attack and sp. attack are both 90, so Pikachu with a light ball actually hits harder, but Raichu has better HP, defense and sp. defense.

Man.  I just can't get hyped on this.  When I get into pokemon, it becomes a major investment for me.  I take it seriously.  I don't really know why.  I always like to game on, or at least reach for, the highest level of play I can manage.  That works out in other forms of media cause there is much less knowledge to absorb.  Pokemon requires HUGE investments to get even start to approach that level.

The pokemon bug will bite me again at some point then I'll be all hyped and shit, but not right now.  Sadly!

OK. I'm thinking of dipping my toes into Breeding. How does this work?

I have a male Kadabra with Trick, and Bulbapedia says that I can pass this along to a Zigzagoon, but it will take a breeding chain. Who does the Kadabra need to breed with? Who does the offspring need to breed with? It's not my female Linoone, as I had hoped.

Have your Kadabra hump a Spinda, get a Male Spinda with Trick.

Have that Spinda poke a Linoone, get a Zigzagoon with Trick.

Waiting for Seedot's breeding calculator is a useful tool for breeding chain calculations.

The general idea behind move chaining is that two Pokémon can breed if they are in the same egg group, and are of opposite gender. The offspring learns attacks from the father (if they are egg moves or TMs learnable by the offspring) and takes its species from the mother. The offspring also learns any move if would learn by level up, but only if both parents have it.

Moves can be bred across egg groups via Pokémon which are in more than one egg group. In your case, the shortest path is Kadabra (humanshape group), to Spinda (humanshape/ground) to Zigzagoon (ground).

Zigzagoon can also learn Trick from a Move Tutor in Platinum and HG/SS.

I wonder what the longest breeding chain is.

Today I watered my chilan and kelpsy bushes, then stepped into a nega-dimension opposite to our own, where time and space are meaningless. There is only one Pokemon here, a legendary creature so ancient that his name is forgotten by human history, and who may in fact be the dimension itself. If destroyed, might the world as we know it cease to exist?

I battled the creature, captured it, and bent it to my will.

When I returned home, I ran into the Pokémon Centre to tell Poké Kid Ariel about my adventure. She didn't seem to listen, and just talked about her Pikachu roleplaying hobby like always. Everyone went about their business as usual, as if nothing special had happened today. Had my adventure really happened? Perhaps I fell asleep by the chilan bushes, and dreamt the whole thing?

I checked the Pokémon centre's PC.
