SHIT. The time has finally come. They are basing a pokemon game in America based on our stereotypes.
SHIT.

Also: that "snake" has legs.
And I can't decide who I'll be! I need to see more evolutions.

I always like the starters in this order in terms of design:
Water - awesome! (ok, maybe squirtle is a bit uninspired, but blastoise makes up for it)
Grass - Cool!
Fire - Somewhere between   and ::(:  (Charmander is the exception.  Charmander is awesome.)

Did you really just say that retarded otter clown is more awesome than squirtle?

No, I just said that squirtle was a bit uninspired.  I never said he wasn't cool.  Just bland.
The Snowball-headed otter is more visually interesting, but depending on is that's a yellow area or a bulbous nose-thing, slightly to far less overall cool.

PS.  I'm quire curious on what they evolve into.

I'm gonna take a wild stab and say water/ice for beaver snowman, fire/ground for the hellboar, and grass/...flying? for the snake thing.

All half-normals so far are Normal/Flying, except HM slave Bibarel (Normal/Water) and Girafarig (Normal/Psychic).

Supposing each is still weak to one other's type, Water/Ice is a conundrum because it beats both Fire and Grass, while still being weak to Grass. A Grass/Ground would be weak to Fire and doubly weak to Ice. Fire/Ground would be doubly weak to Water, and starters don't usually have double-weaknesses to each other.

I want to guess Grass/Psychic for the grass snake, but that would be weak to both Fire and Ice, and have seven weaknesses and six resistances.

Pokemon abilities or moves that shift around weaknesses and such might be the way to go, unless they decide to add a new type or two in this edition.  Fire has long been given the short end of the stick, and it needs something to be more competitive.

Here's a move idea.

Oil Bomb.  Low or no-damage Fire attack that weakens a target's Water-type moves and makes water-type pokemon either neutrally susceptible to fire or super-effective.  Or, not even that, Oil Bomb guarantees a Burn status effect on the next fire-type attack.

Sandstorm kind of did that for rock types in 4th gen, by effectively doubling their defense, I imagine adding that effect to sunny day for fire types would be quite easy.

Sandstorm buffs Rock attacks?  I didn't know.

I'm sure they'll start as pure water/fire/grass, but end up double-typed through evolution like every starter since 3rd gen.

What I really would have liked to see was different type setup of starters that still followed the rock/scissor/paper standard, though fighting/flying/rock is the only one I can think of that follows it to the letter.
