of course if it's just "move slower, no back-stab" then yeah pretty lame. career headshotters will use it because they know they're fucked in tunnel-vision anyway and forcing a spy to shoot at you is something, not to mention the first two weeks when every new spy doesn't realize he'll get zapped (the freeze-cams will be magnificent)

but we're about due for the triumphant return of the backburner's missing HP

if it replaces the SMG, then his melee is fucked because he's now slower


also spies can just shoot him 3 times anyway.


(speaking of spies, does that revolver on the dead spy look a little odd to anyone else?)

Bow + Shield = Demo Speed, front-line combatant?

175 HP while waddling would make sense, give a ton of incentive to be on the front at all, and deal with the fact that body-shottin' at melee isn't the sort of thing you actively seek out.

yes, because a 175 hp (260 if overcharged) class that can guarantee crits (if not oneshot everyone else) is balanced.

I dunno, it still seems pretty goddamn dumb if you combine it with the regular scope. Beats the hell out of the SMG and is a free ride to negate one of the sniper's biggest weaknesses.

Also, for those of you guessing it adds 50 HP, think about that for a second: Imagine if you are trying to give the sniper a +50 HP boost to encourage more COMBAT SNIPER. Now imagine that any ding from a wayward spy kills off that 50 HP permanently (i.e. cannot be recovered by medic/health packs). That's all kinds of retarded and cumbersome. I doubt that's the case.

Weird Situational Item was the Heavy's Shotgun replacement and the Pyro's Shotgun replacement and the Scout's Pistol replacement.

Probably works more like the Scout's Ball(regenerates.)

Also uh yeah I'll take a semi-permanent HP ding over instant death. Not to mention it knocks the Spy on his ass.

True. The "No stats revealed" updates are kind of irritating.

it doesn't even appear to knock spy on his ass.

it stops him from attacking with his knife for ??? seconds

spy kills shield, cloaks, sniper goes into OH GOD SPY PANIC, gets stabbed anyway

or he just gets revolvered.

speaking of VALVE trolls, they'll probably make it so the shield, if broken only comes back after you die and make burning kill the shield too (YAAAY MORE USE FOR FLARES)

Yeah, I mean, I can see it as an incentive to play the Huntsman, but what if in practice it just results in laming with the regular rifle. Shit, +50 HP (possibly) and spy-fry? That's what I'd do. Hell, I'd take it even without the +50 HP. It's not like the sniper needs to run THAT fast - he's supposed to operate behind the lines anyway.

The more I think about it, the more I'm flattered than offended. Clearly Spies are more important than the 8 other classes in the game.

I think they made it just to say, "Stop standing all the way at the back with your back to the wall where you're screwing over your team."  Also snipers running back to get new shields could get them out of the way for every so often making a good sniper less of a offense-stopper.

I also think it should replace his melee.  As the spy will have to go back to distance anyway so what's the point?

I don't think the board killed him, like someone else said, it probably just keeps the spy from using the backstab for a bit.


Also, I don't even know where Doom gets the idea that it'll give a HP boost, that really won't happen if the backburner has taught us anything.
