Razorback should do that shit do all melee attacks from behind.  Just to be fair to spies.  Backburner not affected as it's not technically melee.  It also would mean that teamwork could be used to stab them anyway!

Razorback should now protect from flames from any angle for 30 seconds to be fair to spies!

Catloaf and Saturn talking about pyros in every post is boring.

I'm betting the shield is an accessory.

That's exactly what I was thinking: it should do this to any melee attack to be fair (and to make more sense, dammit).

Anyway, all I know is that if the third unlockable isn't a boomerang, I'm going to be one sad panda.  :sadpanda:

I wouldn't bet on it, but the idea did approach my mind. I mean...

Maybe it deletes itself from your inventory and you need to find another.

Well, probably not.

That thought did cross my mind. It would be HILARIOUS if Valve did that. Troll-licious.

I don't see how the shield could encourage BATTLE SNIPER in anyway.  It makes you slower: hardly a trait you want to take closer to the front line when you have less time to dodge rockets.

...if he was holding a (suspiciously gold-colored) gun, why the hell did the board kill him?

His knife is stuck in the shield.  The text implies that the shield is not an insta-kill, so he would have to take out his gun in an attempt to finish off the sniper.

There's a lot of curious tidbits to the shield that make it unusual, mostly because of how little is discussed about how it plays.

Notably, it's usually unless it's on the sniper at all times.  The idea of it being strapped to the sniper's back implies that it might just be the first accessory in the game, because no other weapon is in play - so to speak - at all times.

There's also the matter of it breaking.  It's never stated how that will work, whether the shield will slowly recover itself ala Sandman ball or whether you'll have to go back to a locker or whether it just comes back at respawn.

And it's utility against one specific class really seems to imply that it's not a mere weapon swap, but we'll just have to see.

If the Razorback is an class-specific accessory then it's perfectly reasonable to say that other classes may have them as well.

Could be he holds it in front when equipped, replacing the kukri, and can make a slow melee shield bash. When not equipped, it appears on his back, where it protects against spy.

VALVE ADMITTED THAT STUNS AND ADDING HP WERE A BAD IDEA.

Dungeons & Dragons writers have noticed the same thing. Stun is bad because losing the ability to take actions is not fun; it's fine in TF2 respawn delay where it's a punishment, but bonking out just because you braved enemy fire is frustrating.

Bonus hit points is a bad thing because it decreases danger, making the game less exciting. If everyone has more hit points it's even worse, as the net result is to decrease the efficacy of every player's weapons.

So they fixed the stun by making it essentially double your HP while you're stunned!

 :perfect:

The Huntsman adding HP would make more sense than the Razorback, if they want to encourage snipers to move forward.

Extra hit points on a Pyro was probably too much just because a Pyro is already one of the more survivable classes, especially with his immunity to the one damage-over-time mechanic. Snipers, though, are plenty squishy.

However, even if the shield does give him more HP, I very much doubt it would give him enough to survive a fully-charged body shot from another sniper, because that'd really wreck the balance (since the hardest of counters to a Sniper is another Sniper). We're looking at 25 bonus HP at best.

The shield forces a Spy to give a Sniper a warning before killing him instantly, and to stand around for a few extra seconds during which a friend might be able to intervene. It really wouldn't be much use to a Huntsman Sniper, because he's already fragile and doesn't need to be slowed down on the front lines, and at any rate would probably just make an enemy Spy more likely to go after his buddies instead. Maybe a Huntsman Sniper with a shield at the very back of an offensive group would be a good way to head off chains of backstabs, but even with the slowdown it's always going to be the Heavies and Soldiers and Medics at the back.

Might still be an improvement over the Klobb SMG, though.

Guys, Kazz looks really angry in this post.  Do you think he's gonna leave forever?  Maybe he found a new forum in Romania.
