Radical Dreamers

Anyone else play this game? I thought it was really cool. Kinda like a good suspense novel played like a hentai dating-sim. :vampire:

It wasn't bad.  I don't think it really qualified as a game since there was no way to lose.

I DO know that debating whether Guile is Magus makes for some spectacular fights.

Actually, you could lose. Try getting to the other side of the that one room when the fish are trying to eat you, or letting that spiky sealing crush you. Also, you do actually have hit-points, and if they reach 0 you will die.

I read somewhere that some programmer originally wanted to make it a lot more obvious he was Magus, but then pulled most of it and left it up in the air just to see discussion about the game.

A haunting affair. Mitsuda's softly textured score along with the overly descriptive narrative linger in the conscious after completion.

That, and Kid calls Lynx a Pedophile. :american:

I think I liked the idea of Radical Dreamers more when it was canon.  Or maybe I just have a massive hate-on for the guy who wrote the Chrono Cross script, what with the whole "also wrote Final Fantasy VII and Xenogears" thing.

Also, I think they came out and said that Gil was Magus in RD.  Would make him looking for Kid (who was Schala) make more sense, at least.

Best part, in my opinion.

I must be the only one who effing hated Harle.

Possibly even slightly more than I hated Kid.

Well, one of them is an obnoxious confrontational shrew with an annoying accent that tries to come across as some sort of action girl but ends up getting into situations where you need to bail her out repeatedly (her high point is being tricked by Lynx in Serge's body... when Lynx!Serge is wearing his HELLO I AM EVIL outfit), aaaaand the other is an obnoxious creepy friggin' clown (My exact quote was "She's a clown, for fuck's sake.  How can you sexualize a clown?") with an annoying accent that brings the plot to a screeching halt whenever she says more than two sentences, largely because she refuses to shut up about anything ever.

But I might be biased a little.

I don't think you're SUPPOSED to like Kid.  I mean, the game rewards you every time you tell her to take a hike.

And let's not forget that the game's biggest plot twist required Schala's hair color to be retconned.

Well, how ELSE are you going to tell them apart?

Trying to give actual PERSONALITIES to a cast of dozens of playable characters is so Suikoden.

The game goes out of its way to make it seem like you're supposed to care about her, though.  Like if you give up on trying to save her after she gets poisoned (right after Funny Accent #15 tells you the cure doesn't exist anymore), FA15 acts like you're the bastard spawn of Stalin, Jeffery Dahlmer and Stevie Case despite telling you that searching for the cure would be meaningless.  Presumably, it's the thought that counts.

Also, the dwarves in that game were assholes.
