Spent probably a solid eight hours today at my computer writing code (not that I'm complaining; I'm sort of trying to get a job where I do that 5 times a week). By 12:40 I was wiped but also a little stir-crazy; I realized I hadn't left the house all day, and I don't like days like that.
Took a bike ride, my first late-night one since moving back to Tempe, and it was gorgeous. It's about 70 out; just wonderful.
I've often wondered why most of Phoenix metro isn't nocturnal. I mean, I understand there are jobs that require sunlight, but for the indoor professions where you've got the lights on anyway, I really don't get why we structure those around daylight. I mean, yeah, switching our schedule around depending on the time of year would be disruptive, but the rest of the country changes its damn clocks twice a year.
Course, then I guess I wouldn't get nights like this. But once I'm back to working 8-5, I won't be able to stay up this late then either.
Rode down to the old high school and back, since I'd
mentioned it yesterday. Confirmed my suspicion that the palm trees in
Ryan Kelly's drawing do not actually exist (in fact the angle of the entrance is all wrong; it's actually at a 45-degree angle to the rest of the building), but I think the fact that I managed to look at that pic eleventy billion times without noticing anything was off means he did a pretty damn good job.
Anyway. All this to say, it's gorgeous out tonight and I'm glad I got to get out in it for a little bit. Think I'm going to leave my window open tonight, though that risks being awakened at an ungodly hour by the guys working across the street (I THINK they work on Saturdays). Still, as long as it's still cooler outdoors than indoors at night, I may as well enjoy it; by July it's going to be 90 out at 2 AM.
