The funny thing is, I live on the left hand side of the state and we are getting NONE of that shit!
Is that your left or my left?

We finally got a little bit of rain and a significant drop in temperature.

But can't enjoy it.  The air's full of dust and pollen, and the pressure change is wreaking its own havoc on our sinuses.

I've had a splitting headache for about two days (and I'm not taking pain meds because I'm worried about the condition of my stomach lately), and my girlfriend's allergies are so bad she can barely speak.  I've managed not to miss any work (largely because my job is, shall we say, uncomplicated), but she's not going to make it to work or class tomorrow.

Hopefully it'll get better over the weekend.  Would sure be nice to be able to go OUTSIDE now that we're finally getting 75-degree weather.

Well, we finally got us a real (non-dust) storm last night.  I got up this morning and noticed our back gate had blown open.  And it's a good thing it did, because if I hadn't gone out there to close it I wouldn't have noticed that one of the trees had blown over (the youngest, one that we planted maybe a year ago).

It's tied to a stake, which I couldn't get back into the ground with just my bare hands (and I had to get to work), so I set about looking for things I could use to prop it up.  We've still got a handful of furniture on the back porch, but mostly stuff I wouldn't want to get rained on.  Ultimately, though, I noticed we had a plastic folding chair, which is pretty much the perfect object for propping up a sapling without getting pushed over by its weight.

Fortunately I don't have a driveway or a car, so it's business as usual. :perfect:

As long as it's dry, above 4 degress or so, and the roads haven't been salted yet, I can still ride my motorbike. Still good so far!

I'd really be interested in seeing a chart not just of Phoenix's highs but its lows and the time in-between.

I know a lot of you out there are dealing with much worse temperatures tonight than "OMG it's going to freeze".  However, I am willing to bet that in most of those cases it was not above 100 in September.

Oh and the room I work in has no heat, so that's cool.  Hopefully the guy will come fix it today.  I asked yesterday but he wasn't in; apparently maintenance here is part-time/outsourced.

Well, maybe you don't get blizzards, but a severe and rapid differential like that can still get you really sick.

Oh good, maintenance guy says it's broken and they need to order an outdated part.  Lord knows when THAT'LL get here.

He's closed the vents, at least.  Still, I'm going to be working in a heavy coat for awhile yet.

The weather around here has been so erratic lately. It will snow, but just enough to fill the cracks in the road, then the sun will come out and it'll be dry again. Other times it'll just rain. Just a few hours north of here, at my parents' place, there's lots of snow. I watched the temperature literally drop (car thermostat) as I traveled up there with them.

It's been in the mid-70's all week.  Absolutely gorgeous -- if only the air quality wasn't so bad that I've had to stay indoors.

Sure was great for last Saturday's outdoor wedding followed by a walk to the bus to the bar followed by outdoor seating followed by another walk to another bus to home, though.

Was in DC for the last week and change.  Four 60-degree days, then a heavy snow, then another 60 degree day, then a 35er.

Man, where are you from normally such that Monday's dusting would be "heavy"?

This year has been useless for snow. It's not supposed to be this nice in mid-January! It's like autumn is just overstaying its welcome. The trees are bare, there's hardly any birds, but it's not cold enough to wear a heavy coat. Yesterday it was so warm I was almost sweating.
