Yeah, the epicenter was just north of Ottawa.  There's a small town that really got knocked around, but no deaths.  In downtown, it was like Canada day with the dumbasses in the civil service all lemminging it outdoors with all the exposed glass, as opposed to sticking in under their desks.  It's not like we're Haiti:  Our buildings are not made of paper.

However, I got to hand it to central Canada:  As much as I like to bitch that you guys wouldn't know hardcore weather such as the wet and windy coasts where ~100km/h weeklong windstorms are just another way of saying "November", not only do you impress me with an earthquake and a thunderstorm in the same day, but my sister in Southern Ontario one-up's me with an added tornado.

Hard core.

Got back in tonight after 8.  AC had been set to 77 since 4:30.  Temperature on thermostat was 79.

AC set at 77; hasn't been able to keep the temperature there, instead hovering around 80 while running more or less continuously since about 1 this afternoon.  Started making rattling noise.  Could just be frozen, but can't go out and hose it down because it's on the roof.  Have turned it off for now; after an hour or so will turn it back on and see if it's working any better.

Current outdoor temperature is 102 degrees.  Time is 9:50 PM.

It is absurdly humid right now.
It's pretty much been the warmest it's been all summer this week, with this constant threat of rain looming overhead. There actually were a few cloudbursts last night, and they were so strong that they knocked out the power and crashed our computer system at work.
Also, right now I'm in my room. No breeze, no AC, second floor directly under the pure black roof. :painful:

AC guy came in on Saturday, replaced burned-out motor.  No more rattling or buzzing, but it's still running constantly and only getting down to about 80.  Need to get AC guy back tomorrow, except oops I'm getting my roof replaced tomorrow.

There's been so much rain out here in Wisconsin/Minnesota that it's been kinda ridiculous.

As we drive, we keep turning on the A/C to get some nice dry air in the car, but then get too cold, so we turn the A/C until we can't stand the humidity anymore. Off, on, off, on, off, on, etc.

Mongrel. When you were driving through Wisconsin, (if you were) down interstate 94, when you passed a little shit hole called Tomah, that is where I live.

D: so close ;___;

We didn't pass Tomah, because we went Chicago -> Milwaukee -> Wausau (my uncle lives in Wausau), then went down the 29 to get to Minneapolis.

I thought we didn't have time for extra stops, because we were going to stay with my Uncle longer, but he had to leave early.

It's getting increasingly warm and muggy here. Last night had the strangest weather I've ever seen. For one thing, the heat was unbearable. For another, the entire town was covered with one giant cloud. The rain was thick but extremely light and didn't start until late at night. What I mean is that it looked like it was pouring, but if you stood in it you would barely notice it.
Most bizarre was the lightning. Lightning is extremely rare here, and there was more of it last night than I've ever seen in my life. Total. It started early in the evening and just kept going all night. Sometimes it was just flashes, but often it would be full-fledged chain lightning that would sometimes hit the ground and sometimes arc its way back up into the clouds. The weirdest part? No thunder. Absolutely none. The entire storm was completely silent.

We're in that pre-monsoon period where it's a little cloudy but still 108 fucking degrees out and muggy.
