Step outside, have dramatically difficult time breathing. Check the weather and see humidity at 96%, along with this.

If predictions are accurate, today will be the hottest day in Toronto's recorded history.

I had to ride to work today.

On my bike.

In dress pants.

Predictions were not accurate (imagine that). We only came within 0.8 degrees of the previous record for this day, and within a couple degrees of the all-time record (today was 37.5, previous record for July 21st in Toronto was 38.3, all-time hottest recorded temp in Toronto was about 40.5).

We did however beat the all-time record for daily minimum temperature, with 26.8 at 6 am.

No mater how you slice it though, it was TOO DAMNED HOT.

I do believe this is the first time I've heard thunder this season.

Hoping we finally get some damn rain.

Finally starting to recover from the dust storm; I've actually nearly forgotten to take my allergy/asthma meds the last couple of days.

FUCK YES IT IS RAINING.

EDIT: Kinda figured this was coming when I found a line of ants in my kitchen a few hours ago.

Was going to brush teeth & go to bed but first storm of season requires that I hang out on the back porch with a beer.

(I frightened the neighbor cat -- with whom I have an uneasy truce -- when I came out; she was sitting on the back porch avoiding the run and dashed out into it when I sat down.  I feel kinda bad about that, but really this is my porch and I'm kind of okay with the cat being afraid of me.)

I like that anyone who's lived in Arizona for a long time has a ritual like this.

I'm not exaggerating when I say that the first rain of monsoon season is the closest thing in my life to a religious experience.

The last storm cloud that passed by looked so awesome I had to film it. I'm kinda of bummed I ran out of batteries, but it starting raining cats and dogs like two minutes afterwards anyway.

Storm clouds rolling by

(Picture quality's terrible on account of nighttime, and also it's from my crappity-ass Powershot.)

EDIT: jesus what's wrong with that preview. my camera's not that bad

There was probably a Covenant Cruiser in that cloud.

In other news. Fuck this heat and humidity. I'm in the pacific fucking northwest. This shit shouldn't happen.
